  1. Happens more in hockey than other sports.
  2. Owner is in the news again. Sharpsburg Car Dealer accused of ripping off customers. Tribune Review. SMH
  3. I have a friend who has a kid playing on that team. I can't speak for others, but his kid hasn't got paid. So there's that.
  4. Good coach, better man! Gonna miss him.
  5. The home and home series between #9 Niagara and #14 Pitt scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. The team's split a home and home first semester. The teams will meet at the Erie Civic Center Monday at 830 to play their remaining league game.
  6. Plus, they were in the Lake Shore league so WPIHL had no jurisdiction over them. Not sure how closely things were looked at. I thought they were pure. Pa Hickey would know better
  7. In case anyone is interested, Ohio U will be in town this weekend. Play Pitt at 920 Friday and 220 Sat at Harmarville
  8. Just a follow up from Lynchburg. Between 3,000 and 3,500 fans for a Saturday 7PM start. They love their hockey at Liberty. It is a 1st class organization and the game day experience is amazing. Very profesional! Game was tied 1-1 with 10 minutes to go before Liberty pulled away for a 3-1 win.
  9. All this is true. SRO crowd of 4,100 tonite. The football team that just won their conference championship across the street and brought their trophy over between periods. Great crowd, great atmosphere. Liberty won 5-3 in their Midnight Mayhem game
  10. ACHA D1 uses a computer ranking starting the end of October.
  11. Thanks Danner, it's a never ending battle.
  12. Dog whisperer. Lol
  13. Vinnie doing too good as the Fog Whisperer. And that team you were talking about lost in the PA Championship game in 19-20. Vinnie, a former Plum player coached that team. And they have the right coach running the program now.
  14. Yes, and I was there for 15 seasons or so and we were good. But sometimes teams go thru a dry spell. Let's face it, sometimes the talent isn't there so you build from the ground up. Not many people want to take on that situation . I did watch Plum beat Fox Chapel using a strategy of icing the puck every time they could. Fox Chapel was all over them; outshot them like 65-15. But the strategy worked. Wait till they have more talented kids. And there is no shame in not having a winning season if you gave it your all every nite for a good coach. That's life. Small disappointments in sports are a great way to learn to deal with disappointment sure to come your way as you get older. It's part of what makes sports great.
  15. Can't resist! I coached the HC in high school, he worked for me and he coached with his two high school coaches at Pitt including myself. He left Pitt to coach Plum. He was absolutely the right coach to take over a struggling program. Maybe that's the reason the parents aren't happy about it. It's hard to win when the talent is in the young teams and harder to find a coach to take on the program knowing they'll be growing pains. My bet is a parent in the younger teams that does coach, thinks he can do a better job. This is just stupid. Unless there is something I don't know and I doubt it. I just hope this isn't political. Just one old man's opinion. And Danner, u should be able to figure who I am now. Not a Pitt parent.
  16. Great post Eddie! You nailed it.
  17. #23 IUP plays #15 Illinois St on 3/16 @ 4:45. IUP defeated Duquesne 3-2 in OT in semis and RMU 6-2 in CHMA finals. It's been a great season for the boys and I wish them luck at Nationals. #12 Pitt plays #5 Liberty on 3/18 @ 10:15. PITT won the ESCHL regular season championship to secure auto bid and beat #18 Stonybrook 4-2 in semis and #10 Niagara 8-2 in finals of ESCHL playoffs. An example of the problem with awarding the auto bid to a leagues playoff winner is #58 Buffalo having a magical weekend and winning the auto bid in the NECHL. You're not getting the best team from your league representing your conference. Nationals are in Marlborough, Mass.
  18. Just when I thought I was out; Danner, you pulled me back in. A few facts regarding your comments about ACHA and Pitt. 1. PITT won the CHMA regular season championship 4 out of the last 5 years Pitt was in the league. After the 1st 2 years, the league decided to give the automatic bid to the playoff winner rather than the regular season champ. The handwriting was on the wall as Pitt went 26-1-1 in league the last 2 years. 2. ACHACHA M1-semantics, why does it bother you? 3. There is not a player on the Pitt roster that came to Pitt just to play hockey. They came to get a good education AND play hockey. 4. The cost to play hockey at Pitt this year was completely funded by sponsors and fundraising. Includes jerseys, shells, gloves, helmets, equipment bags, warm up windsuits, travel, hotels and food on the road, sticks, etc. 5. If a game in the ACHA is tied after regulation it goes into the computer as a tie. Has always been that way 6. There is no political or parental interference at Pitt. Well there Danner, I fixed it for you. Know the facts b4 you criticize a program that people have worked hard to build. You can fact check any of this.
  19. Two teams in Western PA becoming top ACHA programs are IUP (ranked 19th and 8-0 in the CHMA) and Pitt. ( ranked 9th and 7-0-1 in the ESCHL) So there are some programs that a
  20. I'm pretty sure it's the job of the home team in the CHMA and the CHE to forward game sheets to the ACHA. I might be wrong....
  21. Great post. Couldn't have been explained any better.
  22. So what do you all consider an elite ACHA team. Top 5? 10? 15? And most people playing or coaching will tell you that they play ACHA D1 club. Noone understands M1. Stigma attached to D1 club doesn't realize that some club teams practice 3 days/week, give up weekends and partying on Thursday and Friday cause they're serious about playing. And really; who cares if a kid plays juniors a year to make a BETTER club team that takes hockey seriously. So he retires at 66 instead of 65. By the time these kids turn 65, they may not be able to retire anyways the way things are going.
