  1. I honestly wouldn’t doubt the pens have influence on this. They want to be the only game in town. If Duquesne had a small on campus rink for their program, the pro team would lose money. The students would pack the campus rink, the same students that always partake in the pens game time ticket program. I can’t remember what it’s called. They pens needed those tickets sold back before all the sell outs at consol. Be assured they don’t want that program gone. In a few more years when Crosby & company retire or live on the pens will need those students to sell tickets.
  2. Yes, yes and yes but look at it this way, Pitt has probably waste a million in the last 10 years doing feasibility study’s for a Ncaa hockey program. They have the money to waste, it would do more for the local hockey fan base than a pro team. I would be willing to bet the pens do not want pitt to have ncca d1 hockey in the city, all those college kids that walk up for late tickets wouldn’t waste the money on the pro game anymore.
  3. there are only 1,600 ncca d1 hockey players in the WORLD. Those few don’t necessarily get to choose what school they play for to boot!
  4. Us adults would rather goto the island, college students want to have a few beers. Walk to the game and socialize. the majority of our schools could afford to build their own rinks with out a problem, they won’t because the sport doesn’t generate money, even the rmu ncaa d1 program. there are many acha programs that have on campus rinks.
  5. I think the problem is a mix if things. Yes, Pittsburgh is mainly a pro sports town. The kids and families that would attended (hockey families) are busy with their own hockey. No on campus rinks kills these teams getting their own students out to a game. slippery rock playing a game at upmc, what college kid is going to make that drive to watch ? If they could walk to the game, they would be packed. Chatham all the way in butler, no students are going there.
  6. Correct & correct for the both of you!
  7. All sports doa, just my opinion.
  8. No it’s a rogue league just like the usphl here, Both are a joke. Both are put in place to suck the money out of dreamers and finance a different league.
  9. Both of the Ohio teams (Cleveland and Columbus) play in a real AAA league. The T1EHL, that league sends more players to major juniors than any other league in the states. When you look at percentage though, the HPHL is the best it’s just a much smaller league. What league does Lebo play in ? NONE. that Lebo thing is all about a dads 04 and 05 kids, that dads father worked for USA hockey in Denverz said dad has some pull. Just like Mario’s son who wasn’t good enough to make the hornets, so Mario bought them and changed the name. This dad doesn’t have to buy a team, he just gets USA hockey to help him out. I actually knew his dad, he was a decent guy up to the day he passed away. The kid, as you can see not so much.
  10. Live barn stinks, pihl and Pahl should consult with hockey tv. It’s just a guy using an iPad and doing the announcing at the same time.
  11. The major Canadian leagues, ushl & nahl. Most kids playing in those leagues get drafted by the teams. You can try to goto some of the camps they use as fund raisers. you would have to be with out a doubt the best player out there for them to think about giving you a real main camp invite, if that somehow happens you end up at the real main camp that consists of their current team, draft picks etc. roughly 100 players, so now you have to crack that nut.
  12. There is nothing wrong with acha hockey, especially if your kid has the grades to get a few bucks to go there. i don’t want to come off as pompous BUT if you are not playing juniors for one the Canadian major leagues, the ushl or the nahl you are pretty much wasting time and just delaying the end.
  13. I’m trying to help, stay away from that league, it’s a joke. It makes the usphl premier look like ncaa hockey! What camp did you attended ?
  14. FYI about that site - the guy that runs it has zero credibility with anyone that matters. He’s also an advisor that makes a killing putting kids in the usphl.
  15. Sorry if the truth hurts. Go use the google machine if you want info.
  16. Cpjhl stands for Cant Play Junior Hockey. The usphl premier is better, that ain’t saying much!
  17. I still find it suspect, my 02 who didn’t play aaa got the invite email along with others I know.
  18. the $500 main camp in the south hills of Pittsburgh ? ? The real main camp takes place in Youngstown at their home rink.
  19. What Canadian league ? Most usphl premier teams are in the 10-12k range for tuition, area makes a difference, that does include hotels but does not include billeting. if playing pay to play juniors in the states, the ehl is the best tier 3 league. The Usphl premier in my opinion, is like 20U varsity hockey, most of the teams have 3 to 4 good players. it’s just there to make money to fund their ncdc. Very few kids ever get “promoted” up to the ncdc. The majority of the kids playing in the ncdc come from prep schools & high level aaa programs.
  20. I heard the rinks are open again ?
  21. Gentry’s hockey program was created by a very wealthy family who have a 03 & 04. The 03 is on the national team now, I believe the 04 is also gone. Gentry hockey will fold up soon, if not, it won’t be the power house it was at midget the past two seasons. The program was all about two bothers.
  22. Nobody knows. My guess is local pihl and Pahl will happen, travel won’t. Just my opinion.
  23. The naphl has taken a serious hit. Looks as though most of the bigger name programs are gone & a lot of mediocre programs added. I wouldn’t brag about being a guest team in that league.
