The naphl will have them playing AA. That’s what “guest” teams get. They will play AA teams and bottom ranked AAA teams. Those guest spots are to fill ice & make money because they buy out rinks for the showcase. They will play chicago aa teams and the bad usphl aaa teams. They won’t play teams like esmark, meijer, etc.

Great question, maybe a south hills thing ? The 18u coach also coaches a varsity team and has some of his school players every year. That fills some of it. It’s the only local midget option after PPE & Esmark, I’m sure it’s not hard to find 10 kids willing to pay that didn’t or wouldn’t make the other teams. It’s also very cheap in comparison to the other two.

Negative, at that age parents & players start to really figure it out. Easy money to make from squirts to bantam.

New Mexico has just canceled football and soccer this fall For high schools. Western pa is not Minnesota, we don’t have the talent in numbers. Have you seen some of our varsity teams ? It looks like Pahl a major at best. Sure each tier has 2-3 pretty good teams but after that it gets pretty bad. my main point - there is talent in western pa, just not enough to have awesome varsity teams. The top teams here have starters that wouldn’t crack a Minnesota line up.

@fafa fohi I read this today. A lot of people probably do not realize Ivy League schools do not give out athletic scholarships. Yes folks, the young man playing ncaa d1 hockey at places like Dartmouth,, Yale etc are paying their own bill. the big ten is a huge money maker along With the other “big” conferences, they will keep that revenue stream rolling in. Time will tell soon if any changes happen.

I’m thinking it was the junior Sabers, I can’t be sure as it was sometime ago. What saw would give zero skill development. Just my opinion. I still think checking should go back to peewee.

For rinks - quality of ice!

As stated above a few years ago. I saw one of these genes in Buffalo, Watched about a period. There may have been a total of 5 shots on goal for both teams. Sure it was good cardio but there was ZERO development going on. One kid on each team trying to get breakaways.

Unfortunately they were never really able to get that icemen program off the ground. They should have easily passed the predators as choice 3 for tier 1. I have my opinions on why it never worked there but I can’t post them due to putting names on a public forum.

Mass just canceled the senior chowder cup and all hockey. This is coming from their state government. Friends there are telling me they don’t expect any hockey to be played until 2021.

Drafted to the ushl, made a nahl team at 18 years old. Didn’t want to waste two years of his life playing junior hockey. Said screw it dad I’m done, I want to get on with my life. End of the short story version.

80% of the players drafted & tendered never make it to the respective team. it’s all relative in the end, there is not a lot that separates these top players. If two players are equal in skill and skating the junior team usually will take the bigger kid. It’s just the way it is. to answer your question, there are so many kids beating down the top junior leagues. Have you ever been to a NAHL camp ? the final invite camp, not the money maker camps. There is 100 skaters. You have the top 10 players then the bottom 10 players, not much at all separates 11-90. Connections, money & advisors is what determines Who the bottom half of a high end junior team is.

Well you could go research my post history or ask some of the old timers around here about my 99. If you want to get into hockey talk, I forgot more than you probably learned to this point. I will give you this free advice, playing for the predators won’t get your kid anywhere. Playing for esmark could help a little if he’s the top player, ppe is all that matters outside of Pittsburgh in the hockey world. There are kids with half the talent at ppe getting drafted over esmark kids. It’s because ppe runs the show. It’s that simple.

When did I say any kids got cut from the predators ? I know the north hills father. as I told the father, if you want to make the preds you need to take lessons from gary or quest but that’s a completely different story that I did not speak about on here. there are some people here that know who I am in real life due to the info I gave about my 99. I’m not hiding behind a keyboard. we all want to see pro & youth hockey return, youth is not going to happen because of places like ice castle who are not following the rules put forth and of course, the dads that have to be there to watch tryouts.
