  1. and what about D2 hockey? i know there are very few teams so what is the point of being D2 over D3? do they only play each other?
  2. I see about four PENS ELITE 18u players are going to the BCHL and several to the NAHL, and ESMARK has one 18u going to the NCDC and a couple to the NAHL. How does the NCDC stack up? Don’t know much about that league does it send kids to D1? is it as good as NAHL?
  3. don’t think this move works out for anyone. only those who can’t make ppe team would choose to do this and they all falsely claim they wanted to leave. also excel is the hour ten of ice and then the teams practice another hour or so. it’s a lot of ice. and it’s the two off ice sessions per day that is perhaps too much - but the trainer at ppe is second to none
  4. so you all think pens should take only local kids when every other top 5 AAA team at 16 and 18 has kids from across the globe. if pens did that at 16 and 18 snd only took local “talent” they certainly wouldn’t be top 5 at the only levels that matter. get a grip. if your kid is local and good enough they are on PENS. i can think of many many examples. they don’t not make the team because they are local. and i can think of a few examples of local kids who are good enough not only make the team but also do NOT go to NC. if you are good enough they want you. period. one local never went to NC and is moved on to extreme high levels and is still young. Pens wanted him because he is a great hockey player. not because of politics, not because he was going to NC and not because his parents are rich. they make decisions mostly with the goal of being a top rated team. sure mistakes are made along the way and some are there because of politics but local true talent is recruited by pens - it is just few and far between. don’t fool yourselves into thinking your kid is great but they don’t bother w locals. that is hogwash
  5. 100 percent agree with everything here. the 5 kids i know (1 esmark and 4 PPE) stayed back even though could have been on the rosters of ushl or nahl teams - they were not going to play much so stayed at 18 for another year. the kid at mt. st. C is a different story in that he’s an nhl prospect but the theory is the same - stay at a top notch 18 team and then do better the next year at a quality junior team. a good 18 program definitely better than any pay to play tier III junior team and agree - in this area - Pens, Esmark in that order and no other 18 team matters. period.
  6. never said he came out of nowhere. the point is that he could have played in junior league but chose second year of 18u because that is where more development occurs if you have good program and coaching. more players are choosing 18 where they will play more over junior teams - and then going to junior when more ready to really play. i know it’s a rarity but someone like this kid could have easily left a year or two ago but didn’t. i know of about five examples local who did same thing - stayed back for 18 and go to to ushl or nahl after. it’s becoming more popular to focus on 18.
  7. https://www.woonsocketcall.com/sports/benoit-not-getting-ahead-of-himself/article_7f6e2b06-9ffe-11eb-804b-0b9050c1cc1c.html u18 is changing at the good programs this kid didn’t bloom until 2nd year of 18u
  8. pretty sure u can play in ncaa d1 after ohl but not eligible for money. you can play in other junior leagues like nahl after ohl
  9. thank you, I’ll have to figure out how to pull this information. Curious to see if it is similar results for the next couple of years of 16 U at the local teams/where they play 3-4 years down the line if anywhere
  10. it is pretty good. and this is consistent most years if you look back on 16u PPE. wonder how esmark stacks up - where the esmark 16u players from 2014-15 are playing now
  11. you really think danner is lying about a futures draft (not even playing)? this is ridiculous we are all too bored. if he was going to make something up it would be something a little more sensational geeeezzzzz
  12. ya right. again - Keep telling yourself that you may start believing it. very defensive on this sore spot - that’s for sure.
  13. was not meaning to reply to you. my opinion is the esmark ppl talk themselves into thinking it’s better. the resources at poe are better period.
  14. ha! ya so many kids at 16 would rather be on esmark. hilarious ! u drank the koolaid because you had no choice!
  15. keep telling yourself that pucks11. LOL. The only people who think esmatk is better are the ones whose kid didn’t make PPE early on but finally ended up on esmark. it’s. no brainer on so many levels
  16. huh?? when has pens rink been shut down in Dencember? And look again at the games played - same as most teams in their divisions. What in the world are you talking about
  17. wasn’t there already a court ruling on this. everyone thought it was some great victory. but nothing changed. that was months ago. am i wrong? that is my recollection
  18. that’s correct. and as much as i agree that so many of these restrictions are arbitrary and ridiculous i don’t get why so much energy is going in to the current bill. without it, schools get to decide and can have fans up to the limits. NO -wolf is not going to allow a school district to decide limits are more than 25/250. and if this bill does go through then the real bill that matters (indoor limits increase to % of capacity rather than 25) will get pushed aside bc i don’t think two in a row will go through. if they were going to buck the system it should be for 2832 bc it would help schools as well
  19. obviously 50 ppl would be way better than 25 but junior teams and prep teams almost always have more than 20 on roster. the current proposed legislation only helps public and private schools - neither of which control many hockey venues.
  20. If the bill were to pass then schools could make these decisions- but i wish it were worded more broadly so that independent organizations could make decisions on indoor gathering limits etc. As written this does not generally increase the indoor limit for non-school hockey orgs to sanction games does it?
  21. so the pahl proposal DOES still allow checking. that’s what i thought. many teams have been doing this already for the time being - making mini teams and scrimmaging. with checking but 25 ppl total
  22. can someone repost the pahl proposal documents? when i click on the attachments posted on page 5 of this thread they are not viewable.
  23. does bender’s post say anything about no checking? i am missing it for some reason. i know of org’s splitting teams up for scrimmages to stick to the 25 person limit but i personally ha e not heard of any going non-checking. is that official?
