  1. you are so persuasive - a sherlock holmes - you got it i’m a spy employee for pens!!!! ya i pop up cause i get a kick out of the obsession you have. an adult who is still this sour on this topic so many years later. news for you - there is a line out the door at pens tryouts every year and no one cares what YOU have to say. you have no experience there. just a guy outside looking in the window. if you only knew …
  2. chief king is obsessed and jealous. goodness get a life!!! you post the same thing over and over. no one cares. people want to play at ppe. and obviously you would have loved your kid to have had the opportunity and can’t get over the burn. geez bud it’s pretty pathetic he thinks he has a savvy comeback by accusing anyone who had a good experience at PPE of working there??!! it’s actually comical ya every other organization only lists kids who have played in that organization for entire career. what a ridiculous point. i can also name several kids with D1 offers who are currently playing juniors that are not listed on the website yet. oh wait - but they didn’t play PPE from nite through midget so maybe PPE shouldn’t list them anyway. not
  3. oh my i went away from this board for a while because the adults sitting around utterly still obsessed with ppe was nauseating. i came back and you did not disappoint that’s for sure. you must have really gotten burned at ppe. not sure if you had to drive to cleveland bc they didn’t want your kid or what?? none of what you say has been my family’s first hand experience there - none of it. from quality of training to help with juniors to all the crap about local kids to excel. it’s all just outsider-looking-in hogwash. you and others on here bashing the accomplishments of 16 year olds and saying no one can go anywhere is nauseating. the organization works hard to get those who work hard (and who have talent) where they should be. that’s the bottom line. 99% of it has to do with what the kid puts in. and if it’s gonna matter in the end that kid has to do a lot of work and make a lot of sacrifice - A LOT - more than anyone on here can imagine and more than most young men are willing to do - understandably because even putting in all the work necessary who knows what the result will be - they are sacrificing normal life during high school and college - not able to do what the average kid is doing. not all 17 year olds want to do this. is that PPE’s or any other organization’s fault? the kids who do what it actually takes are few and far between but they do exist and PPE is great for THOSE kids. maybe not for the others. no magic wand is waved to get average kids D1 scholarships. and none of you must have any knowledge of what a player needs to do after youth is over to make that D1 happen. it’s unreal. i’m leaving again and not commenting again to comments by yoy jealous old men. outta here. smh
  4. huh? had good experience there and so did my kid. that’s all. know many in good juniors programs from pens. just my experience. chill bud - you sure are obsessed with this organization you hate. lol i guess it’s a prerequisite to pens bash if you are on this site for some reason oh well …
  5. well i do agree that unfortunately the kids with family money/clout get better opps. not sure what happened with this kid on the nahl team he did end up making? if he keeps at it this year and next no doubt he will go higher.
  6. well according to this board pens doesn’t create good opportunities anyway and kids who leave are better off elsewhere- so this kid oughta be just fine … an 03 so probably played juniors last year - any eyes from ushl or ohl have now seen him so pretty hard to blame pens for anything at this point? but u guys will find a way?
  7. obviously there are exceptions. and yes, politics are involved at every level and every sport. that’s life. but the facts are as i stated above. many local kids there from the strong birth years. those are facts. can’t imagine there are ANY top 10 teams anywhere in the country on which every player is local to that organization. NONE.
  8. more than half from the last several years of 16-18u is from the local area and were developed at pens and are now playing in good junior leagues and/or committed. those birth years were strong locally and so the local kids who have the talent and commitment do play at pens and move on. if a birth year is weak locally like many are, then no pens does not hang on to those kids without results and just take them because they are local. if you look at the player advancement section on the pens site - almost every kid tendered, drafted or signed from 19-22 is from pittsburgh. there are not super talented local kids who pens don’t take because they are local. that is just not true. if you are an asset they want you.
  9. a lot of the good ones stay bc there is no reason to leave PPE for a lateral move to another top 10 team. and the good ones who stay end up USHL, BCHL, NAHL. the exposure is there. if you are good enough and play for PPE you move on to a good league. Don’t know of any of the good PPE players who end up at USPHL.
  10. the nahl teams do not necessarily disclose tenders. ppe site has a player advancement section that shows some. i know of 4 additional ones from last year’s 18’s and 16’s that are not listed tho. esmark site im sure lists them as well. i don’t know what is better- being tendered or a draft pick? either way tenders cannot be drafted. not bashing esmark but the numbers are not the same. about 80% of last year’s PPE 18 team is signed, drafted or tendered (yes i know they still have to make team). only prob 10% of esmark tho. so the numbers are just factually different
  11. many PPE are already tendered and thus not eligible to be drafted.
  12. do you realize how much esmark travels - to places requiring flight and rental car. way way more than PPE. the 18’s went so much this past season and usually to play low level teams. i don’t get it.
  13. 39 rounds omg. but why only the younger years? it wasn’t like this in years past right?
  14. wow 70????? why do many and why trying to keep the league younger? maybe bc a pass through league to try to move up to ushl?
  15. I know several local boys , however, throughout the years, who PENS ELITE did not take until 14, 15 or 16 U. The kids tried out year after year and didn’t make team but then once they developed and were good enough PENS ELITE saw that and took them and they were/are successful there
  16. pa high school hockey does not translate to high level aaa hockey period. the high level kids who used to play were out there having fun but it is not the same game. know idea about whoever you are talking about but if he did great in pihl good for him i’m sure it was fun but it is meaningless for advancement. the true aaa players who used to play before not being allowed by ppe were simply trying not to get hurt - it wasn’t about points so you can’t judge by if so and so only had 2 points pg during a pihl game.
  17. they would lose reputation. with a small pool, there is less talent. all top aaa teams go wherever they can find talent. they don’t only pick from local kids nor should they. if your kid is local and good enough he will be on the team but they will choose from far and wide.
  18. so you all want PPE to only take pgh kids when all of the other top teams pick from all over? ya makes a lot of sense to pick from a very small pool.
  19. almost ANY player willing to do it can play tier III juniors. how? you pay. period.
  20. great information on all fronts. whatever - in what league did your son play juniors? i agree wholeheartedly that you can’t listen to other people and everyone has their own path. juniors is an experience in and of itself and not a waste of time for many even if it doesn’t result in D1. some leagues do take advantage and many mediocre players have unrealistic expectations but it is what it is.
  21. correct. they have a different goal in mind. some paths make sense others don’t but to each their own. playing D1 is tough. many don’t realize
  22. agree. i’m sure acha is fun too. sounds like a couple of the canadian leagues are also worth while but other than that acha/recreational play sounds like better option.
