  1. Allegheny County Health Department@HealthAllegheny Here is information about common characteristics identified by case investigators among new cases of COVID-19. This information helps the Health Department determine whether mitigation measures are appropriate or needed. The chart covers data from the last six weeks.
  2. My point is to hold off on the parade. It's not over and it's going to go on a lot longer if attitudes let it. I'm not even saying that it should be fear & panic all over the place. Too many many people are trying to prove that this pandemic just isn't a big deal. I don't exactly know what we we should be doing/not doing, but have faced the fact that we'll be stuck in this rut if attitudes don't change. I agree that common sense social distancing solutions without closures of things is probably the best way to move on. I just hear all this stuff that is the opposite of common sense. People just keep trying to post links/charts to convince everyone to act like Covid is just a cold or flu. That will just cause more cases and more reason for people to panic. Then we'll just tell people not to panic, but they will.
  3. Nice charts. As I was saying.... It's highly unlikely that you will die. So far in the United States, we are at over 180.000 and climbing about 1,000 per day. Don't worry about it. You probably don't know any of those people and many of them are retirees that you probably see as unproductive. Their families care about them, but you don't even know their families so you are not affected. Yes, there will be a small number of young people that die or have long-term health effects but these numbers will be small enough to keep the odds low that it will happen here. It will be other peoples' kids and you are free to send them some thoughts and prayers.
  4. Sorry, but the virus is real. Expectation is that daily Covid deaths will average a thousand people per day for rest of the year. Don't worry... You probably won't be one of them, most are older people that you don't care about and hockey is still being played at all our rinks. So it's all good.
  5. Oh man. You're making me feel terrible. I would then hope that many will choose to use that ignore feature to save their mental health.
  6. Sorry. I did not realize I was upsetting you. I didn't know about the ignore feature. That will likely help. It helps many folks to have their opinions validated by hearing other opinions that are the same. Perhaps, you could try listening to talk radio.
  7. Many epidemiologists have made the case that this virus has killed so many because of attitudes like this. It would kill lot less and be gone a lot sooner if the mortality rate was higher or more people had sever symptoms. Number one: it would kill before it spread or the a very ill person would stay out of the community. Number two: People aren't that afraid of it making it less likely for them to take precautions. It is right in the sweet spot when it comes to mortality & transmissibility. No incentive to report it as a team? I guess your right if your only concern is to keep playing hockey. Those that would choose to do that would be among the lowest forms of humanity.
  8. It only sounds stupid to the small minority of people that do not understand how contagious diseases work or to those that are selfish enough to not consider the possible effect.
  9. You should then make the same case for driving under the influence. Your body & your car. Nobody should be able to stop you from taking your own risk. right?
  10. Great. We're now sharing links from batshit-crazy far right conspiracy websites on a youth hockey forum. And still insisting that we are somehow "Locked down" during the same time we are actively playing hockey games.
  11. I agree. I would loathe any businesses that did not if I was one of the owners that did.
  12. The people going to these established made bad choices by acting as if there was no pandemic. Nothing would be closed if they had. Everyone was asked to social distance from day one, but they went to these places and did not. It's unfortunate that these people were selfish and now the owners of these establishments are suffering. I feel sorry for these business owners, but public health was in mind with these decisions. Ask your representative for a lifeline as you're business is hurting by no fault of your own.
  13. I never said any of that stuff. You definitely have a beef if your business is suffering due to restrictions. Somebody determined that bars needed to be shut down for public health reasons. It should be the responsibility of the government that oversees these decisions to compensate those affected. Shame on them if they are not doing that. I will be in your corner to fight for that.
  14. Am I telling anyone what to do? Only thing I have suggested is to stay positive for the kids. You can lobby for changes, but you will be the one making your kids miserable if you tell them that their government is against them. I can't believe that's controversial.
  15. This isn't the best news for high school athletics. We've had one here & there but 6 may cause a stir.
  16. You're right. It i boring. It's more fun when everyone agrees with each other. There should be separate forums for people that are right and people that are wrong.
  17. Minority in what sense? The belief that we are living under an oppressive regime? Prove to me that we are.
  18. OK. Fair enough. There seem to be quite a few that bring up his name a lot. And I am certainly not opposed to having that 25 person limit revised.
  19. But none of the things that you have listed have been banned by state mandates/restrictions. It's Wolf this and Wolf that. What is the state preventing you from doing? Keep in mind that PIAA has mandated no spectators.
  20. That's the best you can do? You think there is a mandate against shaking hands? And all the professional sports teams are on board with the no fans policy. Do you really think that is just a Pennsylvania thing? School? State government is allowing schools to make their own decision and some are going full five days. So there are no night clubs & comedy clubs open in PA? Excuse me. That is quite a hardship then. Can you maybe take a little drive to a neighboring state for such an essential activity?
  21. OK. There is nothing here that I didn't mention. Personally...What would you like to do now that you are not allowed to? Please fill in the blank: I can't even ___________ anymore because of Covid-19 restrictions.
  22. I guess I am not aware of the restrictions other than closed bars, limited restaurant capacity, 250 limit for outdoor gatherings, 25 for indoor gatherings & certain businesses are limited to 50% capacity. Am I missing something. Could someone please enlighten me on what I am missing?
