  1. 14U coach does lessons at RMU. Don’t think he makes kids take his lessons though.
  2. Sorry, I guess the U13 coach does offer private lessons. But only half of their AAA coaches do.
  3. Not all of the AAA coaches are listed as instructors there. So I am pretty sure you are incorrect that all the coaches offer private lessons. The U14 and u13 coaches were not listed there. And I didn’t see the U18 coach there either. I think your statements are false.
  4. Do the Preds coaches have access to ice to even do private lessons? It seems to be a big assumption considering that only certain people are approved to offer private lessons at the Ice Castle. I definitely could be wrong, but I have known of a number of kids that have played at the Preds AAA level and they haven’t taken any lessons from coaches at all. I will find out though as I have a friend whose son played for them last year at the 2010 BY.
  5. I doubt they would put up numbers as big as they did in the open class. But they would still be good players. Without a supporting group of players it is always harder to stack points. I believe you are correct, these players would be good in AA. But no way they rack up points playing with their open class teams in AA. They would still score a good bit, but no where near what they did in open class. But put those same two players on a pure AA team and they would be among league leaders in scoring.
  6. They wouldn’t compete in AA either. They would be near the bottom of AA. You have to have three very solid lines and a 4th line that can give you some decent minutes in order to be successful in AA.
  7. They would get blown out most games in AAA
  8. I haven’t paid attention to that lately, but I do remember kids joking about a particular player doing that a few years ago. But doesn’t mean that all kids do it, so to discount everyone’s assists based on the fact that some kids do it is probably not the best solution.
  9. Why less weight for assists? I am familiar with high school hockey, but don’t understand your statement.
  10. Canevin is a good team in the open class. They wouldn’t compete in AA OR AAA. No chance. And it doesn’t matter unless they can get enough kids to go pure.
  11. If you are referring to the Airport, there were more than 3 teams when they closed down. And they could have had more if the owners weren’t such idiots.
  12. Yes, you do just sign up. You don’t have to win anything to go. When Bethel Park won the “National Championship”, they were not even the top team in PIHL AAA.
  13. You can definitely just declare that you are “AAA”. Not sure about the tier 1 designation. But any team can claim to be AAA. And the Aviators have a long history of doing just that. I know. I have been part of the Aviators organization in the past and they have had a number of teams declare AAA. And it was always a reach and the teams struggled dearly. Somehow one of those teams got a game with Pens Elite, got blown out and it was ugly. I am not saying your new AAA team will be as bad. I hope that they are competitive. I saw the AA teams play last year and they were good. Not sure if they have enough kids that are AAA fast. But they were good. Good luck with your season, I hope they are competitive and I look forward to seeing them play.
  14. Going to nationals is not a good indicator of a good team. You don’t have to win anything to get there. You just have to apply. That being said. They have been a good team. But I agree that running up the scores is classless.
  15. There is more than one path to tier 2 juniors and D1. I have seen it. One of the kids I know didn’t even play AAA until 18U. And he didn’t play for the Pens. He is D1. Another kid played for Preds AAA until U18 then went to Esmark. Also going D1. Not everybody wants or can afford to spend 400,000 over 4 years of High school. The good ones find a way without the Pens.
  16. I didn’t say anything about beating the pens. Just because you play for the Pens elite doesn’t mean you are the going anywhere. Lots of Pens Elite players that never played more than ACHA. Others that haven’t played for Pens elite have gone on to higher levels. There is more than one path to higher levels.
  17. The U18 and U-16 are definitely struggling. The U14 and U13 teams were decent teams. I agree the Preds program hasn’t been the best, but those 2 teams proved to be competitive this year.
  18. I know two kids that played both amateur and high school, didn’t stop them from going D1. Only missed one or two high school games because of amateur travel. For a coach to deny a kid an opportunity to play a game they love with friends is absolutely atrocious. Deal with any conflicts as they come up and playing for both teams is not an issue. The EGO of these coaches that say you can’t play both is the problem. A high school coach suggesting a kid not play for that kind of coach is not a problem. Missing an amateur practice occasionally for a high school game should not be a problem. The kids are on the ice. They are not going to a movie. The coaches that think missing a couple practices for other ice time need to move on to another career. Go coach adults, kids are kids and should be treated as such. Because no matter how good of a coach you are, a couple missed practices are NOT going to change the trajectory of a player or hurt their amateur team.
  19. If? They made it and played well enough to prove they should have been there. So quit your crying. They beat both Indiana and Esmark during the regular season. And they beat the Vengeance in the tournament.
  20. If there is that coach needs to be fired. Anybody that is so delusional that they think their amateur team is so important that their players shouldn’t play PIHL for whatever reason shouldn’t be allowed to coach at all. U15 AAA Preds will probably be sending 5 or 6 kids to the NHl right? What a joke!
  21. Might help, but you would probably have some coaches tanking. I think that using other data available would enhance the process as well. For instance, the level that kids play in amateur could be used. I know not all kids play amateur, but a majority of them do.
