Preds Update 18U- Will struggle to score goals. Most of their talent aged out from last year and the kids moving up from 16AAA last year were one of the worst teams in the country. 3 of those players will be lucky to make the team and 2 play D. A player from AA Foxes last year was the best offensive talent at tryouts and I don't know if he will stay. Team will be average at best. 16U- This is a good team. Not sure what they will do on a national level but there is talent here. Their top end guys are players. 15U- As someone mentioned previously this team wouldn't win AA PAHL. A few of these players may decline also. Don't want to get bashed all season long.

yes, not surprising that you have to pay to travel. most parents don’t get a hotel at the camps - the kids stay and it is included in the camp fee which is nominal. what is stated above is opposite of my experience. we had contact with college and Junior coaches who watched the camps.

I had an 02 AA player just didn’t want to spend that kind of money on AAA Hockey it’s a waste. When we went to Mid Am most of the top AA kids were just as good or not better than the AAA players. The way the system is set up is no fair to AA players and I wouldn’t recommend spending $600 to $800 for a weekend to try out for a rig try out. A top AA player works just as hard as AAA player. It’s a injustice to that kid some families can’t afford AAA and some families don’t want to travel that shouldn’t be held against him in this Try-Out. If it was run the right way evaluators should come in from the outside of the MID AM area.

Nobody. There is zero scouting there. The evaluation and on ice stuff is done by coaches from ppe & Sylvania.

In looking at PAHL games in the various 14u divisions, I noticed that many teams did not earn their FPP. Is this unusual? Is it adjusting to checking or just the hormones kicking in? Does that improve over the season?

The new forum has advanced capabilities of tagging someone (or several) people within a post. If you know their username, all you need to do is type the "@" symbol followed by their username. As you start to type the username it will do an "AJAX" lookup and show you all the usernames that start with those letters. Select one of those usernames and keep typing your post. The person (or people) that you tagged will get a notification that you tagged them when you make the post. I find this a very handy feature. Check it out!

As an FYI, there is a new VIP forum for posters who have posted a total of more than 100 posts/comments/likes. When you hit the threshold, it will appear under YOUTH HOCKEY. This forum is not visible to anyone under 100 content items.

Today I deployed a brand new, robust theme which is now set as the forum default. This them is call ORTEM. It has the ability to show lots of forum statistics and is much more robust than the built-in theme that came with the software.

Just as an FYI, the new forum has a fully optimized mobile browser version. No app needed...

Hello Everyone! I am pleased to welcome you to the brand-new Western PA Hockey forum. The new forum has 100x the features of the old forum but best of all we are free of the restrictions placed on us by the former "free" forum provider. I can speak from experience the old forum setup was sub-par both in terms of technology and the way they treated their forum clients. I couldn't wait to get off that platform and this new forum took lots of time and planning to implement, plus the software is not free (I went with a proven, robust forum platform). As I had previously noted, the prior forum provider claimed full ownership of all the forum content, so we were not able to migrate any content to this forum. So we're starting fresh for this upcoming 2018-19 season. Take a spin around the forum and let's get it started! Let me know what you think. PB
