  1. Well said friend but the fauxAAA teams are a bigger issue than the AA. . If someone can finally end the preds and SHAHA faux AAA fiasco pgh hockey would see better days.

  2. This is going back a ways, but back when Esmark was known as the Pittsburgh Stars, they played at Kittanning. And the Vengeance, then known as the Amateur Penguins, played at the Neville South Side Arena - good location, but awful rink. Around that same time, the Hornets, were playing home games in Detroit. So I think that there is some validity to the idea that some people will go anywhere for AAA. I think that's especially true for Esmark, who has been 2nd best after PPE if you consider the last 15 years as a whole and not individual teams/birth years.

  3. I think you are correct about this. The 06 SHAHA team is good. The problem is the organization got the big head and now has low level AAA at 07, 08, and 09 levels. They seem to want to copy the Preds model which is not what anyone needs to do.

  4. I know multiple families that turned down Esmark spots this year because of arena location. They accepted spots on lesser teams.

  5. That SHAHA 16U AAA team is very good. I won't be surprised if they beat Esmark this year. They beat Vengenance last year. Maybe that's what caused them to fold. I'm going to watch some results next month and take a stab at ranking the AAA teams around here! Oh wait I guess MyHR will do that for me! I guess we will see how many are legit AAA!

  6. @BeaverFalls - DO NOT LIST ANY ACHA, we are talking NCAA D1, D3 and any level of pro - Tom Mooney played 4 years at Notre Dame - Dave Tench played 1 game for Toledo ECHL - Jack Williams - Greensburg Salem, left the area in (i think) 10th grade to billet & play somewhere north of PA just don't remember where. Played 5 yrs OHL (Kitchener, North Bay) then 11 years bouncing from ECHL, CHL, WCHL, WPHL, IHL, UHL Josh Piro - Johnstown - Played NCAA Elmira, ECHL, UHL, SPHL, Germany GerObl I gotta think about the women's side a bit, I can probably list a dozen or so.... Several NCAA D1 and lots of NCAA D3 for sure, at least one female pro NWHL? and for sure one olympian.
