  1. My assumption would be that they do not want to be scrutinized for their "questionable" social distancing practices.
  2. Having recently stayed in a hotel out of state for business I can say I felt like it was the cleanest hotel experience I have ever had.
  3. Thanks for this insight. We have a couple of parents on our team that are hesitant to play out of state.
  4. Wow. What a giant POS. Looks like he was a sub too which makes it even more embarrassing for his teammates. Absolute joke.
  5. Looks like it..... http://myhockeystatistics.com/entre_un.php?o=3&s=374&x=1&d=13634 Maybe its the girls team? Still pretty bad either way Edit: to add that it also appears that PPE is playing in the 10U AA division as well...
  6. Absolutely. Google says RMU's sheet that the college team plays on is 1,200 seat capacity, and UPMC is 1,500 per sheet. If I am reading the note from Paul Day on this correctly, it is the capacity for the entire building based on the fire code. We should be totally fine for all PAHL and most PIHL games to be played as "normal". If Baierl says its 1,000 seat per sheet I would think all of local rinks are very similar in seating capacity size or more. The stands there are not very large, especially on the World rink.
  7. I'm assuming the rink owners will talk to their lawyers and get everything sorted out today. I would anticipate almost all of the rinks being able to operate as "normal" moving forward. PIHL and PAHL need to have a meeting ASAP and get the new guidelines set. As long as everyone follows the protocols put in place, the rules at the rink, and stays home if they are feeling sick, I don't see why we cant have a successful season. Anyone know off hand the capacity limits for some local rinks?
  8. Finally! Let's get this show on the road....safely!
  9. I hope he realizes that if he makes it 50 or 75 for indoor, then all of us go away and its one less thing he has to worry about. I am sure he and his staff are getting sick of the calls from crazy hockey parents.
  10. I guess local rinks and organizations are going to have to take the "speakeasy" approach to this in order to get games in. Call them scrimmages, screw MidAm, screw USA Hockey. Just let the kids play. This whole season is a wash anyway, as I highly doubt there will be nationals so just keep doing what everyone is already doing. Follow social distancing guidelines, wear you damn mask, and don't give anyone any reason to complain about whats happening. Hell, this way the PAHL teams will probably get to play more than their normally allotted number of games too.
  11. That is false. They are allowing full roster games 5v5.
  12. What rinks are still enforcing the 25 limit and forcing 4v4? Literally every single rink I have been to in the past two weeks have allowed 5v5 and the two that weren't have as of today, lifted that restriction. Do you think that a certain organization or rink really wants to be the whistle blower to put a stop to all of this?
  13. Who is enforcing these restrictions? Do the police have the power to come in and shut down a hockey game if its over the 25 capacity limit? I think the majority of the rinks are fed up with this BS and will allow full roster games to be played. Most likely still without spectators, and making sure the players follow the protocols.
  14. I feel like clipping the mask on the outside of the cage would greatly obstruct your view, as opposed to just wearing it normally under the cage.
  15. Also, I have been informed that starting October 1st, the restrictions will be lifted in some capacity in terms of roster size and spectators at the UPMC complex.
  16. Should a different approach be taken? Instead of writing bills to eliminate the restrictions completely, what about asking to write a bill that makes them slightly more lenient? For example 75 people indoor and 350 outdoor. 75 people indoor would more than suffice to allow full roster games and spectators. None of this would be an issue at all. Parents would still need to socially distance and wear masks but the season would go on as "normal"
  17. The train seems to be rolling in the right direction for a "normal" season. I have heard from several organizations that their covid policies are going to be re-evaluated and most likely changed to allow full rosters and spectators starting October 1st.
  18. I am not sure, but this was a private rental with split ice between two well known coaches in the area.
  19. Both of the situations are from first hand experience in the past week. My kid was on the ice. -There were 28 players and 3 coaches on the ice during a private ice rental at Bairel. One half of the ice was being used by 2 coaches and 20 kids, the other half was a coach and 8 kids. No middle barrier. -There were 42 players and 6 coaches on the ice at RMU. This was split into two groups divided by barriers in the neutral zone. 21 kids and 3 coaches on one side and 20 kids and 3 coaches on the other. I have no reason to believe that either rink is trying to dig their heels into the ground about moving forward with hockey as "normal" as possible like some other people on this forum seem to think. I don't think there's anyone involved in Western PA youth hockey that doesn't want to see 5v5 full rostered games as quickly as possible.
  20. If I was a betting man I would bet that RMU will open up in a more "normal" sense rather quickly. Given that they have one of the biggest and most used facilities in the area, they have quite a lot to gain from this news, and even more to lose if they don't. I could be dead wrong though, I am a terrible gambler.
  21. Looks good! I'll echo others and say the light version of this would probably be more my style, however this is nice too. An app would be excellent!
  22. You're like Beetlejuice, but we only had to say your name once for you to show up.
  23. Great post and excellent advice. Thank you! Your last sentence is pretty much the exact scenario that I think my son would learn the most from, and that never really occurred to me until just now.
  24. On that note, who's the best local coach offering private lessons?
  25. Is this because PPE is the only "official" Tier 1 association in the area?
