  1. All that chasing people do. ?‍♂️ Still the big hockey states, still the big programs.
  2. I am glad that PIHL tries to make the schedule competitive all season. Blow out games are a waste of time for everyone. Those lopsided football scores are ridiculous and going to get worse as kids continue to avoid that sport in growing numbers.
  3. The Trib wrote up a recap. Peters has been very hot and I think will win easily, but you never know in playoff hockey.
  4. I don't understand the criticism of Allegheny, either. They've done nothing but get better. Good, solid hockey with a lot of puck movement. I remember hating to play this program because they were goons and the parents were awful....now it's because they are good. I get the criticism for AAA, but do we know if the offering is by choice? Either Blackbear told them to or because Blackbear is having a AAA option there is worry some of these players will go there. There are now so many of these teams I think every program is going to have to offer one to keep up, like it or not.. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The parents are winning. More expensive AA hockey, here we come. The real test is going up to Nationals. It's not too often the Western Pa teams have a good showing.
  5. Yep. Just like Culver sends it's JV team to compete in the Hoosier Cup
  6. This is a good point. Not having an end of season playoff and not getting to go to Nationals....how boring to only compete for a my hockey ranking.
  7. That program has come a long way in recent years. Respect and good luck!
  8. Yep. Nothing is changing except to make playing AA hockey more expensive and inaccessible.
  9. There are always crazies and now he is in a rink with a AAA league.
  10. Anything can happen in those tournaments. Sometimes I don't think it is good to be the favorite.
  11. Danner's comment is referring to the 18u NA kids on Foxes. A few people on this board have been nasty about their dedication to NA and/or maligning the head coach. His comment reflects a certain pleasure in their loss. Seems to me an odd take since he claimed to be a good family friend of one of the players, with inside knowledge of his plans after graduation. The comments smack of jealousy over NA's success, quite frankly. It's understandable in the sense that school programs usually take second fiddle around here. But really, should the players place the school second over....18u PAHL hockey? If your kid was good and could play there... would you?
  12. As is the 2007 BY. All the more reason it sucks to have teams leave PAHL. And....Blackbeard is going to change the landscape entirely, I think. Now all the faux AAA teams can play in a league.
  13. A friend wouldn't be posting this stuff. Just stop.
  14. Rumors or not, I didn't think we were supposed to identify children here.I would be unhappy to have my child's plans on display here. No one's business but theirs.
  15. Well, his screen name is 'dazedandconfused'.
  16. Injured. Illness. Their own decision. Some other reason. If you don't know, don't make something up. Clearly NA varsity kids played PAHL games this weekend. It's nice to win the PAHL banner, but I would think having healthy players for MidAms and the Penguins Cup is more important than the games this weekend. Next man up.
  17. Seems someone just wants to trash NA for some reason. Maybe there were other reasons certain players didn't play, because as other posters mentioned, lots of varsity kids played PAHL this weekend.
  18. I pay zero attention to what happens in the east so I appreciate these posts. I mean, east has Philly so we should ignore them generally, am I right....?
  19. Last year the host rink posted results I think.
  20. Ok, 'hockey dad'. ? There is always more than one side to a story. And quite frankly, if anyone with any sort of real knowledge about this incident was smart, which we know not to be true based on the video, they wouldn't post anything anywhere about this. Because...police. And criminal charges. People gossip. It's what they do. This was a horrible scene, and people are going to talk about it. We need to talk about it because the scene keeps happening every weekend all over. If anyone takes anything posted here as gospel, because, as you point out, the obvious issues with posting anonymously, then they, too, aren't that smart.
  21. Perhaps because if it's good there is nothing to address? And also it may identify you.
  22. You know, someone could have just PM'd him. Nope gotta go mean.
  23. AA is a different level in some states than around here, is what he was referring to.
  24. It's a mess to understand. NCAA Div I is the only one who can grant scholarships for sport only. Everything else, you can get academic scholarships. Which means you have to have good grades and be a good student. There are some good articles floating around that explain the alphabet. But yes, depending on the school/program, an ACHA division 1 club team can be better hockey than division III The disappointing thing that I have found is that a lot of those high level club teams will want your kid to play juniors, particularly if you didn't play AAA. That's expensive. Not sure that is worth it. Go get the degree IMHO. No other college sport makes such ridiculous demands of it's players. There are states that allow you to send your kid to prep school for an extra year just to boost grades and let the kid get bigger. Five years of high school! To get a sense if your kid can play somewhere, take a look at the rosters. A lot of them will put the player's last team on the roster, or you can look them up on Elite Prospects. It's enlightening. Even on a club team, you may find that the roster is littered with kids with AAA teams and juniors.
