  1. Where does WHL fit in? And in Canada, is only tier 1 capable of rendering players ineligible for ncaa?
  2. There was also more left out, and not in Mr. Meyers' favor.
  3. That's just called The State of Insurance in the United States.
  4. I guess they have to pay lawsuits one way or the other.
  5. I offered my solution. Quite a bit more reasonable than yours, if I do say so.
  6. Congratulations! You lasted longer than I did!
  7. Why are you so fast to surrender going to your own kid's games? So who enforces this ban? PIHL? PAHL? ATC school league? The rinks? USA Hockey? Good luck.
  8. Really? Could've fooled me. You're putting way too much thought into it. Who supplies zambonibdrivers? Who supplies referees? Bottom line- someone does. I don't really care who. I don't think anyone has annoyed me so quickly on this board before, over nothing. Congrats, you win. Feel free to analyze every detail of the problem. Not my job to figure it out.
  9. No kidding about schools not caring about hockey. However, pretty much any place where large amounts of people gather, places have security. The added cost would be less than 5 bucks a player per game. So don't make it like it's some insurmountable obstacle.
  10. That's the silliest thing I've heard all day. Who pays for these teams to play, and for the rinks to be open? It sure isn't the schools. A better idea would be having (competent) security at the games. I'm sure the schools have no problem paying for that at their football games.
  11. If that's true that the Latrobe parent was threatening/ intending to confront that kid, the Shaler parent had every right to confront that guy. Sounds like the guy finally got the pop he's been asking for. Too bad it came at the expense of the kid's hockey playing for we'll see how long. And his skates.
  12. So what did the guy say to the player to kick this all off?
  13. It must be a shame to go through life being an ignorant @sshole. Player should be banned the rest of the season and next. Sadly, that does nothing to change the mind of a racist, sexist, or homophobe... but at least it's some kind of accountability.
  14. Shut the entire program down? You're nuts. That accomplishes nothing that just suspending the kids who threw punches does. I'll go further and say kids trying to break it up? They should get no punishment.
  15. I would say that if the league suspended your player a game for merely telling the ref to "end the damn game", that's enough- and seems like a bit much, honestly. The org taking it upon itself to add another game to it seems unnecessary. And if they haven't done that to every person who has gotten a game misconduct that's sending the wrong message. If they have rules like that, then they should be consistent. Otherwise, they may as well not even have them.
  16. Somebody claimed a player punched a shaler coach, then quit the team. Do you know if that's true?
  17. Who made the decision for the organization to give their own suspension? The MS coach? Varsity coach? Athletic Director? So they do that at MS level, but let Varsity do whatever they want? Sounds unorganized.
  18. Was this caught on livebarn? I'd love to see it. Who won? The game, not the fights.
  19. Not true. Any time we play Foxes or Indiana or Altoona... the atmosphere is totally different than when playing those teams I mentioned. It carries over to the school teams, too. Get enough players and parents from those teams I mentioned on the same school teams, and they act the same way. Obviously it's not every single parent or player- just enough to make those teams miserable. And who said anything about banning organizations or canceling youth hockey? Only you did. Get a grip.
  20. It's the parents/culture there (and a few other teams), and they start that way while they're young. I hate playing SHAHA, Allegheny, Predatators, and Erie teams- they're just like that. Couple that with the fact that Yetis/Icemen is a landing pad for the disgruntled, and you had a recipe for disaster.
  21. So I agree with what you're saying. That said, at that age, some kids don't listen well. Some kids are slow (physically slow but putting out effort is one thing, lack of effort is another), or not good shots, or make bad decisions. After all reasonable coaching efforts are made to improve that player, ice time is the next motivator. If you can't put in maximum effort and getting beat to the puck constantly or trying to skate through as many opposing players as you can before turning the puck over or you continue to be out of position or take too long of shifts or blindly throw the puck around- you shouldn't be taking ice time from those that are not doing these things. If so-and-so knows coach will put them out just the same as the kid who's blocking shots, racing to pucks, making hard passes, and they can continue to not play to maximum ability, there is no incentive to do any different. Yeah, that kid should be sitting more of the game than the kid who's working hard. Anything different is not fair to the kids who are busting their asses. It's okay to just want to play hockey and have a good time without getting too serious and getting the same ice time as everyone else- that's why there's in-house leagues. And to clarify, I'm not talking about players who just aren't as gifted as others, I'm talking players who aren't putting effort in. If maximum effort is being used, then that's a completely different story.
