I am not sure but I keep hearing rumors that SHAHA is having financial troubles I hope it isn't true and/or an influx of players might help them. Hate to see an organization struggle when hockey numbers are at all time highs in the city.

Just saying the same thing as everyone else but it sounds like he is doing enough hockey already. Try lacrosse, soccer, baseball, swimming, volleyball, tennis, golf, or other activities during the summer.

Honestly you are best off meeting with someone at the organization to discuss this stuff.

Each birthyear looks like they posted 2 teams and i would guess you can tell "team a" from "team b" by the coaches they just didn't list them black and gold. Why is there just one giant team for the 2010s with no coach? That's the one that threw me.

I've had great experiences with both Barb and Marianne as well.

I have heard multiple people in the past tell me you can contact the organization and they can give you personal feedback based on the assessments

That's true of kids at any organization who try out for teams. There are some where you can be cut from travel hockey altogether due to the lack of number of teams. In the long run it teaches kids and parents that everything in life doesn't go their way which frankly we need more of in society. Also as pointed out by previous posters, sometimes getting cut one year is the motivation kids need to decide whether or not to push their development.

According to the website everyone gets called back for day 3 and is put into one of two groups. There is a 4th day where they actually cut kids.

I enjoyed the article except the "my kids will be using a wooden stick until bantam" part. I don't know if I've ever seen a squirt let alone a peewee with a wooden stick. Buy a cheap composite for the same price !

Did they tell you which group was which for skill?

I think it would be a hard sale to get someone to pay that money and then wait all summer to see which team you played on?

I'd prioritize ice time as well. I'd rather have my kid the only starting goalie for a AA team than trading starts with a goalie at AAA if I could make that choice.

Wonder why people hesitate to volunteer? It was a mistake but probably not one that changed the outcome of the game. And I'm not that sympathetic. Both teams still had the same amount of ice time. What if shaha had scored, or did lebo cheat to get the goal in as well? Bigger picture we should have independent volunteers where we can and the question about board representation may be legit as to where games are held.

I'd be quick. Tryouts for many triple a programs are usually in March so kids can still figure out what to do afterwards. I agree with Sauce if I was going to spend the $ coaching would be the first thing I would look at.

Forgive me if I missed something simple but is there an online listing of all-time PIHL Records? Wanting to see how records from back in my day look compared to today.

They play ice renegades as pahl and vengeance as "aaa" tournament team. I know the 08s had a couple 09s who played vengeance travel their first year squirt (could not play renegades/ pahl). No clue about the 09 team this year.
