I didn’t say anything about beating the pens. Just because you play for the Pens elite doesn’t mean you are the going anywhere. Lots of Pens Elite players that never played more than ACHA. Others that haven’t played for Pens elite have gone on to higher levels. There is more than one path to higher levels.

I know two kids that played both amateur and high school, didn’t stop them from going D1. Only missed one or two high school games because of amateur travel. For a coach to deny a kid an opportunity to play a game they love with friends is absolutely atrocious. Deal with any conflicts as they come up and playing for both teams is not an issue. The EGO of these coaches that say you can’t play both is the problem. A high school coach suggesting a kid not play for that kind of coach is not a problem. Missing an amateur practice occasionally for a high school game should not be a problem. The kids are on the ice. They are not going to a movie. The coaches that think missing a couple practices for other ice time need to move on to another career. Go coach adults, kids are kids and should be treated as such. Because no matter how good of a coach you are, a couple missed practices are NOT going to change the trajectory of a player or hurt their amateur team.

If? They made it and played well enough to prove they should have been there. So quit your crying. They beat both Indiana and Esmark during the regular season. And they beat the Vengeance in the tournament.

If there is that coach needs to be fired. Anybody that is so delusional that they think their amateur team is so important that their players shouldn’t play PIHL for whatever reason shouldn’t be allowed to coach at all. U15 AAA Preds will probably be sending 5 or 6 kids to the NHl right? What a joke!

Penguins Cup 2024

Might help, but you would probably have some coaches tanking. I think that using other data available would enhance the process as well. For instance, the level that kids play in amateur could be used. I know not all kids play amateur, but a majority of them do. -

PIHL does a horrible job of placing teams after they lose a bunch of scoring and seniors. Losing half a team to graduation always has a big negative effect on teams. It is even worse when those seniors account for 75% of the goals scored for a team. I have seen it time and time again over the years. Those two factors need to be added to their “formula” in order to make it much better. I have seen it happen to many schools. And has made some kids senior years really tough because they are playing in a division where they get beaten badly a lot of times and lose many games. Whereas if placed properly they would have been competitive but still not on a championship caliber team. Meaning they were way out of the correct division. It leads to teams going 1-19, or 2-18 etc. if TJ is losing half their team and are moved up, I believe they will probably struggle a little. Unless they have a program big enough to add quality players to their varsity roster. Do you know if they 1 or 2 JV teams? If they have 2, restocking the team may not be as hard. If they have 1 it will be much harder(especially if their only JV team barely have enough kids to play games). -

Didn’t happen. -
At 13U the Pens won one game 2-0, and lead another 3-2 going into the third (6-2) final. They had some competition. We’re definitely the better team, but it wasn’t a total cake walk.

I went in late for first game. Left, and came back on time before start of second game. Didn’t see any ticket tables set up like usual. No ticket takers at either entrance. -
PAHL AA Playoffs

Armstrong presidents never care about their own people’s misbehavior. Just the other teams. Worst place to play as a visitor. -

Went to a couple playoff games the other night. Two things I found strange, no admission fee, and no announcements during the game. No goals, assists, penalties announced. -

Number one on the list. Worst of the worst homers. -
You don’t seem to be a fan of RMU hockey.

A goalie can steal a game anytime. And the BH goalie is really good. If they win it will prove all of us thinking that the blue was a lesser division wrong. -
It is like that in all major college sports. Most of the time a big name school wins it all. But there are a bunch of other teams that still compete, and sometimes knock off the big guys.

He is probably right. We shall find out soon enough with playoffs fast approaching. -
Just curious why you brought me into it? Not sure why you would think that I would be ok with this. It is ridiculous people were scammed. I guess you think I would be ok with it because it is the parents choice? Not sure. Let me know. I have long said that anyone can call themselves AAA but that doesn’t make them AAA. Aviators used have a few teams that they claimed were AAA, called them the Stealth. Always a reach, and I said that those teams would have to play in to AA in PAHL. Couldn’t just say “we are AA” in PAHL.

Well we are talking about the inconsistencies of PIHL. So yes. Are you from Avonworth? -

Big reason why they are coop. But Montour has a kid come into 9th grade and actually go to school at Montour and PIHL shuts them down even after their roster was approved. -

I also believe forcing some team that has 9 skaters play pure is a bad idea. The rule started that 12 is the number which I think is fair. And I also realize now that even if you have 12 skaters one year, you may not have 12 the next and would need to add players, hence the coop. And if a team has to go back and forth from moire to co-op every year that that would cause continuation problems. The goalie situation is always a tenuous one. Especially schools that have one goalie for both varsity and JV teams. And the eastern part of the state has A teams that have larger enrollments than some of Western PA’s AAA schools. Hence why I believe that no A school from the west will win States in the near future. -

I think those rules are fair. I also still believe they had more than 12 skaters at least once since becoming coop. That being said, I also understand that having 12 one year and not in the previous or following years would have a serious effect on continuing a program if they played pure one year and had to go back to co-op. And I also I am happy for kids that get to play when they wouldn’t have a chance otherwise. I already do enough research into youth hockey and since I can’t find the info on the PIHL website about where each kid plays I’ll accept your answer as pretty truthful. Good Luck to Canevin the rest of the way! -

If a school has enough kids to field a team without added players they should play pure. If they have 12 skaters and a goalie they should be pure. That is what is fair to all the other schools. And there are plenty of teams that have done this. Why can’t Canevin? -

I don’t care what the rule says. If a school can field a team with less than a full roster they should do it. Because that is what some is what other teams do all the time. Listed what? I didn’t see a list of where the kids attend school on this thread or anywhere else for that matter.
