hockey07
What happened this weekend? Wildcats have 1 FPP for 7 games but heard there was a brawl
aaaahockey
Sounds like a "brawl" in every other game this year. Then people asking why there are fewer FPP being awarded...must be the refs lol
Hky05
Looks like on pahl’s website 24 min of minor 150 min of game misconducts 80 min of fighting 254 total penalty minutes between both teams 16 game misconducts

Momhockey
There were kids suspended for fighting that didn’t even fight and were sitting on benches. Some of the wildcats kids went over to talk to a friend of theirs who was injured on the south hills bench and they were suspended for fighting . So basically the refs were guessing numbers and suspending kids who were showing good sportsmanship .

Momhockey
North Pittsburgh is a fair playing team, they are not cheap at all from what i have seen. Penalties happen when playing aggressive especially at this level. They are not picking fights but will defend themselves when need be.

Check out the 18uAA and 16uAA top few teams......and see their penalty min/fair play points vs NP AA 14u. Most have all their FPP or maybe missing 1. Not missing 6 FPPs
Frozen Four
Assuming there will be a disciplinary hearing, video evidence can be reviewed. If there is none then it will be up to disciplinary committee to figure it out based on testimony of those involved. As far as FPP go, it does not take much to lose those. 16u and 18u play longer games so chances are greater for more penalties. IMO, officials have tough job and yes some games get out of hand. It could go a long way if the officials talked briefly to the team captains before each game to set expectations. Parents have a role in this as well. Respect the officials, respect your opponent and respect the game.

I guess the head butting misconduct early this season was not cheap. The other kid obviously deserved that.
Momhockey
Never said everything the kids have done is justified but I do think there has been a lot of bad calls and other kids starting . Obviously room for improvement. Good group of kids learning like the rest. Some Suspensions given have been taken away after watching videos. Grinder981
Also the term ”brawl” gets thrown around on this board a lot, was anyone hospitalized? Seems like most of these kids get along fine away from the ice.
Hoomie
Bad refs, it's the other teams fault. Sounds like a good mom. However, the high hits, head butting and elbows to the head is just nobody's fault but your coach failing to address it or it wound not keep happening. Hopefully you'll clean it up, it looks as though the team is very good.
Momhockey
I know I don’t make judgments on other children that’s for sure. Especially when I don’t know all the details..
Grinder981
Ok what have we learned? That we all care about these kids and yes while it looks incredibly violent to the uninitiated no one here wants anyone to get hurt and of course head butting or ripping a kids helmet off with your stick( you know who you are) is ridiculous and should be addressed at home but man get off your effen high horses, theses kids are good kids, and we as parents know this but when people resort to insults on this board well it’s entertaining for the vets that’s all. Try to relax and remember we only have this for a short time
Grinder981
Also Sorry rambling, if you post the PAHL stats as a tell all of what happened in a 14u AA game in western pa on a website that well is just entertainment really well it’s easy to know you don’t have a clue about youth hockey in the area again sorry couldn’t let that go, I mean really OMG look at the stats they are savages those 14 year olds, wow ok I’ll stop
Grinder981
Also again sorry hky05 and hoomie are new so I will tread lightly but please add something other than snarky bs, we would appreciate it signed the people entertained by all of your comments thus far

You can watch it on Live barn and see the kid celebrating as the Aha player laid on the ice not moving at first.

sadday4hockey
The lines of defense toward preventing stupidity on the ice and keeping players safe are as follows: 1. The parents - you spend the most time with them, teach them. Don't make excuses for them. 2. The Coaches - if they can't control themselves, sit them on the bench 3. The players - It's not the 1980's. Learn the rules and how to play within them 4. The referees - player safety is most important.

We should, as parents, stop acting like our 14 year old kid just can't help taking a game misconduct by using his stick as a baseball bat.
