  1. I'll be interested to see who they're able to get. I've heard of 5 of their better players that made Predators. Some others I know were at Esmark tryouts and I assume made it. It looks like they switched up coaches. The guy from last year that came in from Michigan isn't listed anymore, instead it's the father/son duo that coached their younger ages.
  2. I completely agree that the AAA teams ranked 100+ who can't even smell the 6th seed at MidAms should be AA. I think the debate is the AAA teams ranked in that 60 or so range that can only hope to make MidAms as a low seed and maybe win a game vs being a Tier 2 team and compete for a national championship. The 2009s were brought up and that's a good example. Shaha could've won MidAms at Tier 2 but went 0-3 at Tier 1 MidAms.
  3. So they take a guy with known alcohol problems and legal issues who has embarrassed himself and his team publicly...and put him in charge of 12 year olds. Seems like sound logic.
  4. Last season you could see statistics on their website and I'm not sure many people even knew about it. You had to click a few different buttons on the site to get there. Even if they aren't 100% accurate I think it's cool for the kids to see how they stack up. Screw the parents who want to complain, they'll always have something to whine about.
  5. My son played in the AHF. I'll say that the league does a much better job of managing their website. Live scoring, stats, players of the week, all-star teams are all pretty cool and certainly add to the experience. I'll also say that the level of competition in that league is absolutely not worth the 10-12 hours of driving you'd do for a weekend, even if you do get 4-6 games. If you're in PAHL already there's no point in adding that amount of driving and hotel stays to play teams that are equal to the competition out here (at best). If you're an independent team you can easily find equal or better competition within 2-3 hours (Ohio, Buffalo) and not take that long trip on the turnpike.
  6. The home team manager enters the game into Sports Engine. I've seen a lot of times where a team gets more than one FPP for a game or doesn't get one they should get. Typically PAHL will audit the standings and points and correct it. I'm not sure how often that happens but in past years it's always been corrected within a week or two.
  7. There was an issue with Sports Engine that I guess is resolved now. They sent out an email saying they're loading schedules and the website should be up and running by tomorrow.
  8. I think a handful of the Viper Stars players are on the newly formed 09 AA Aviators team. I also heard of one who made Iceman. I think it's great that good players are choosing to stay on Tier 2 teams rather than play on some of these 'AAA' teams. It will make for an exciting and competitive year for Tier 2.
  9. I talked to someone with a kid on the team this morning and he said they're done. They were apparently trying to hang on this week but kids were scattered all over at different tryouts.
  10. I think it's still TBD on how many are leaving Vengeance. With the coaches leaving everyone has been lining up different options until they heard who will take over. I know a few kids that seem to be leaving no matter what, but there are only so many options out there. I heard they may be close on a coach, so if it works out I am sure some will stick around. I think a handful are trying out at Pens and some who live in the South Hills are considering Preds or Shaha. It seems to be the typical tryout merry go round!
  11. I saw the 09 Mustangs play a few times this year in 2 close games against the 09 Shaha team. They're a really good team. I saw they beat the Badgers 09 team 3-0 this year so I agree they would likely have won that AA Minor PAHL division. I'm not sure how they would have stacked up against the top AA Major teams. They should be in contention at Midams next year at Tier 2 for sure.
  12. For the FPP being larger than games played, that typically gets corrected by PAHL after a few days. The home team manager enters stats and sometimes messes up the FPP that each team earned for the game.
  13. I think it's typically off by default. A few times I've gone into the front office and asked that it be turned on for a scrimmage or game and it wasn't ever an issue. I think it just takes someone from one of the teams that are playing to make sure it's on.
  14. I think they'll be a tough team to beat in PAHL this year. They picked up a handful of Vengeance kids from last year. Them and the Aviators should be the teams to beat.
  15. I think South Pittsburgh '10 may be playing PAHL now. I looked at the schedule of placement games and they now have a team playing 2 AA placement games. Maybe a late add? Yeti's Peewee AA team from last year I think is broken up between the 2 Yetis bantam teams and some made the 09 Icemen, who are playing independent AA. That team seems to be some Yeti's, Foxes, and NP players. I also heard from a buddy that the 2010 Yeti BY team is playing independent, which seems odd because they'd definitely face good competition in PAHL if they stuck around.
  16. I heard that the Iceman 2011BY team was mostly made up of North Pittsburgh's squirt AA team from this season that wanted to stay together. North Pittsburgh's announcement of a 2011 BY team was in response to that I assume. I heard some kids are now staying at North Pgh so we'll see if they end up having enough to field a team. I also saw something advertised recently about the Erie Jr. Otters fielding a 2011 AAA team. It's all pretty insane.
