Spring and summer teams
sadday4hockey replied to hockey55's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Refunds?? Yeah, right. They'll hold that money as long as possible. Some tournaments have been cancelled, some postponed to later dates. The city of Toronto has banned public events through the end of June and yet some of these companies are still saying their event in May is still on. Just another chapter in this mess. -
Two rinks would never go for that, PIA and Ice Castle. Both of those rinks rely heavily on tournament revenue albeit in two very different ways. PIA uses it to stay afloat while Ice Castle uses it to fill the coffers

Dick's Sporting Goods began layoffs and furloughs yesterday. How will this affect their sponsorship of the PPE or will it not have any effect?
-
I believe that's being misinterpreted. I think that is specific to the National Team program and it's feeder systems. With that said, tryouts for and possibly even an actual season for 2020-21 seem to be in more peril with each and every passing day. Keeping my fingers crossed that one of these days soon, one of the biotech companies is going to figure out how to cure the virus and the nightmare will begin to end.

Where did you see this? Their website has their last update being made on 3/20.

End of season ranks in 12uAA
sadday4hockey replied to Birddog's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
So if they go to Esmark, they will be no different than what they were at PPE which were over-priced AA teams. -

This is assuming that everything post-virus is status quo. I just don't see that being the case. Starting at the Tier 1 level, PPE and Esmark mainly, are people going to be so quick to make that huge financial commitment? For some, and maybe many, there is the reality that hockey gets axed from the family budget. I definitely see this having a major impact on the sport both Nationally and locally alike. Perhaps it will help to fix a few things and keep more teams playing more local hockey instead of the independent Tier 2 and faux AAA schedules. Unfortunately, it's also going to create a decrease in the number of participants next season. You will also see a lot more "choices" being made between School hockey and amateur hockey. No longer will there be as many players able to make the financial commitment to both teams.

Welcome to Arizona, Jack. I've got 3 lovely properties to show you today and all 3 are Oceanfront.

So, since it's sort of an added cost to play I just posted here in lieu of starting another thread. It was nice to see an email yesterday that in the midst of all of this you could count on Posey to make sure that you knew he and PIA were still open to accept your money for his tune-up camps. Damn the Covid-19, full speed ahead.

Nationals cancelled?

If you think for one second that this hasn't been considered..................... I would rethink it. -
Petition for cancelled nationals
sadday4hockey replied to lefthook18's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Having a tough time digesting the fervor behind this mindset. Is it ignorance towards the severity of this health crisis or is it the ignorance of the "bulldozer parents" who shall let nothing stand in the path of what Jimmy deserves? I mean, I get it. It sucks. It sucks bad, but to have such tunnel vision is hard to understand. -
Nationals cancelled?

I can think of one specifically. Keep an eye out for an 8 team 16U event in April right here in Pittsburgh. No other age groups, just 16's. -
Butler Valley rebrand
sadday4hockey replied to Hockeyfan00's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
This is a present tense statement and then you do a 180 and include 15-20 years. Are you trying to tell us that these teams were developed within the Armstrong organization? If so, I'm afraid I've got some bad news. -
Butler Valley rebrand

I would qualify "plenty" as 6-8. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and ask you to name 3. -
I'm going to give this props before it gets removed.

They won't. They'll just throw everything against the wall and hope a few things stick. -
Mid-Am Schedule 2020

Right, it's all out of the goodness of his heart. https://www.ispot.tv/ad/ZErL/discover-card-super-bowl-2020-no-we-dont-charge-annual-fees -
Mid-Am Schedule 2020
sadday4hockey replied to Jack Handey's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
So PPE goes 1/4 in a District as weak as MidAm is? In a District where they have done everything that they can to eliminate any and all possible competition? This is an organization that, and I quote they themselves "has the best coaches, the best facilities and the best players". If this is true, this can only be construed as one thing. A colossal failure at their home rink. -
At the start of the season, the Preds "AA" team #1 parents were on here letting everyone know that they were better than the "AAA" team that folded before season's end. Now this happens and I guess it means that the AA #2 team was the best of the 3? I believe that if you use the transitive property AA#2>AA#1 and AA#1>AAA then AA#2>AAA this is confirmed. It certainly does not lend much credibility to the tryout evaluators and/or process out there at Ice Castle.
-
Right. Here's a little equation "18U Prep" minus an actual Prep School (with room and board) = Nothing different than current 18U team It's just like the "faux AAA" teams referenced on here, you can call things whatever you want to call them and people will believe you.
-
The Vengeance gets ridiculed on here despite the fact that they have opted out of the Midget "money grab" and are focusing on youth teams instead. Now, we all know the likelihood of these teams staying together is slim for a variety of reasons, but which method will not get crucified on here? I ask because the Preds are getting ridiculed for their "money grab" but people also think that they are/should be a legitimate option. As for SHAHA forming a 15U AAA team with a core of 05 PPE Black players - that would simply be absurd and definitely not AAA. I'm not even sure that there is enough ice there to facilitate it. And even if there is, for how long......................? Esmark and PPE are the top 2 choices right now but they both have warts as well. Maybe the best move for players is the Prep School route. Culver, Gilmour and Shadyside are all in the MidAm District and there are plenty of choices in New England

Like him or not, The King does his research.

And if I'm not mistaken that's because he couldn't make the Jr Penguins at that time. You see how all of this works? It's full circle.
