  1. Did the MidAm rule regarding a 3 year waiting period before an organization could play in Districts just disappear or was there some sort of "Special Dispensation" applied to this team through the back channels of MidAm/USA Hockey? Curious, is it not?
  2. You're both clueless. Both of those rules force Coaches to teach their players how to make a play WITH THE PUCK on their stick instead of teaching them how to get rid of the puck for absolutely no reason. And by the way, what the hell do either of those posts have to do with this thread? SMFH
  3. So, if you are a family that is currently a part of the 09 Black team, I wonder what thoughts are going through your mind? Seems like a lame-duck sort of proposition for 2020-21 and even if you do decide to continue on, you can't be certain that the tryout fallout won't produce the same type of mess as they encountered at 07 Black last year. Tough situation to be in for an 11 year old kid who just wants to play hockey.
  4. It's been nice knowing you guys from the Dawg Pound. Good luck with this adventure.
  5. Bitterness or factual information? That's the main issue with a lot of the posts on here. How do you tell the difference?
  6. And what's the cost per?
  7. But you're missing the point, no one with kids that age care if they can Coach or not. It's a name to drop to their friends.
  8. Gilmour 16U plays like 8 games. Nothing like their Prep team, which oh by the way is actually a team from a Prep School. Such a novel concept these days.
  9. And therein may lie the biggest problem with Pittsburgh youth hockey. What percentage of parents at PPE actually do believe that they are currently in some sort of minor league system that will lead them straight to the NHL Penguins. I'm not talking about the kids (although they probably have a better grasp of reality) I'm talking about the parents. I'm going to give my guess by age group. Little 66ers - 90-95% - I will follow your every instruction 10U - 85-90% - It costs how much? No problem, it will be worth every penny 12U - 80% - Wait, my little superstar isn't on the 1st line 14U - 70% - You're bringing in players from where 15U - 60% - But we've been playing here for 8 years 16U - 50% - I guess not everyone makes the grade 18U - <25% - Reality finally sets in and holy s*** there's no money left for college
  10. More along the line of, not ever!!
  11. What does he have to do with Gilmour?
  12. I just can't see them giving up the income of players not attending NC. It's not in their MO. The other intriguing question will be this, "how will this team travel to their events"? Teams like Gilmour and Shady Side and I assume the vast majority of the NE Prep Schools get on a bus and mommy and daddy have to let go of their little babies. Will this team bus to away events or will they require parental transportation?
  13. PIA has it's issues but it's not like the rink is in downtown New Ken. It's a New Ken zip code but it basically sits right on the border of Burrell.
  14. Where did I say something wasn't true. I stated an OPINION, which I believe we are all entitled to, that your history on here provides evidence that you have serious issues with both the SCIR and the Alpha Ice Complex. And that's your prerogative, Bobby Brown but shouldn't you be in Iowa helping them count votes?
  15. You're right. I misread your post. Apologies to you. I guess my panties were in too much of a bunch due to hockey1.
  16. Yes, I did. That is a fact. Yale Bulldogs are an amateur team NOT a Prep team. Esmark and PPE, amateur teams. Gimour and Shady Side, Prep teams. All of the Yale amateur players play at their Prep schools after their amateur season ends in early November. Do you understand the difference between amateur teams and Prep School teams?
  17. That is also incorrect information. Yale Bulldogs, along with many other New England amateur teams such as Neponset Valley, Eastern Mass Senators, Northern Cyclones and on and on are all split season teams comprised almost entirely of players from New England Prep school and HS teams. They play all of their games prior to the start of their HS seasons and they have even already crowned their representatives for Nationals in the Massachusetts District and the New England District during the second weekend in November. So...... Hockey1 and Reg, before you come on here spewing the amount of incorrect information that you spew, you should take some time to educate yourselves just a little bit. https://www.mahockey.org/18ut1nb1920 Oh, and by the way Reg, I'm pretty sure that Yale is a University. It is also a youth hockey organization with both located in lovely New Haven, CT.
  18. And there you have it. Nice job on your information Hockey1, you are obviously very well informed.
  19. Fafa, you have a serious issue with SCIR and Alpha. What gives? Shouldn't your major concern be with the Iowa caucus today?
  20. If this information is actually factual, then it is NOT A PREP TEAM. By definition, a Prep team IS comprised of players that all attend the school for which the team is NAMED. If this is the case, why don't they just call it Morehouse Academy at UPMC and they can all just sit around and make it rain? Even the pioneers at this charade, Selects Academy at South Kent used the school name. North Catholic must be desperate for money.
  21. This will probably get me in trouble but it just seems so appropriate.
  22. At 18U, some players are aware that there really is no next level for them other than ACHA or D3. There is something to be said for their insight and also for the fact maybe being a "grinder" on the better team is more fun because they win more games. Even at the U16 level at PPE, the 3rd and 4th liners are not getting near as much scout attention as the top 6 and if you really believe that THEY are rolling 4 lines....... you're sadly mistaken.
  23. The Prep team will replace the current 18U team. They are barely fielding one team this year, how will they possibly field 2 next year? Would anyone possibly consider their "second team" over Esmark 18U? No way considering they are currently choosing Esmark over the 1st team in many cases.
  24. Does anyone on here realize what this is actually being built for? This will be the home of the Excel Academy - part 2 in conjunction with Central Catholic HS.
  25. https://990finder.foundationcenter.org/990results.aspx?990_type=&fn=penguins+foundation&st=PA&zp=&ei=&fy=&action=Search Over half a million dollars went from the Penguins Foundation to the PPE over the last 3 years. I guess this the "tax shelter" of which was referenced above. You couple this with whatever the Dick's sponsorship amount is and one has to wonder how and why the fees continue to rise.
