  1. It's not. It's in regard to excessive celebration of hits that leads to escalation of tempers, trash talk and trying to see who can blow up an opposing player harder than the other team.
  2. Let's not forget the use of the Quebec players from Wyoming Seminary and the local players from Shadyside.
  3. Is it worth the time to bash the program in Harmar? They didn't even have any U16 or U18 tryouts this year. Are they even a part of this landscape any longer?
  4. They should have shut it down when Weaver left. He knew the model, put in the time and cared about the players, all the players. When Mom A and Dad B get involved, the only concerns are Kid A and Kid B and maybe a few others.
  5. It's all about the $$$$$$. If they can get the Penguins Foundation to put in a large enough chunk of "free money" and the Excel executives can profit on the back end, rest assured that they will probably get it done. Remember, the Mayor and other politicians are in their back pocket so who do you think wins that battle the special interests or the local families?
  6. The Pens pay for the league websites for both PAHL and PIHL and that's a great thing. I don't believe they pay for any individual association's website. As far as how it would work if the Armory pans out, that's anyone guess. There has been rumor of folding the Black teams and the next logical step would be to have AA teams instead. There has also been talk of a second Excel Academy in conjunction with Central Catholic. I think it's been about 18 months that "there has to be a decision by the end of next month" about the Armory.
  7. I think their "tryouts" have been completed. If you read the information on how they operate tryouts/team placement it gives a thorough explanation along with plenty of cause for concern. For some reason, the PAHL wants them to stay afloat. They are propped up by a grant from the Penguins Foundation (as noted on their website) how many other associations get a nickel from them? The master plan is to put them into the Hunt Armory if it ever comes to fruition at which point, voila now the PPE have an association in the PAHL.
  8. I see 4 at 10U and 5 at 12U in PAHL listing. I forgot that the 06 team was independent and didn't consider the girls. Did they have a 10U independent team? Also, the U18 didn't practice did they? It's still a lot of teams for one sheet. How many did Lebo and Southpointe have?
  9. They had 17 teams last season plus whatever 8U they had. That's a lot of teams for a one sheet facility.
  10. I'm confused by that. It seems more and more that the higher end teams that use more ice are moving toward SHAHA and now Lebo. I will say that the dynamic out there with 3 locations that only have one sheet to work with has to be difficult for those organizations.
  11. The South Hills players/teams appear to be migrating away from the Predators over the last year and a half. What's causing this?
  12. What's the obsession with Harmar organizations? Do you realize that they're both basically one and the same? Just like NHAHA rosters Esmark and BV rosters Icemen so does SCIR roster Vengeance.
  13. Based on the scores, it would seem as though Pierre Creamer could have coached them. This will only make sense to folks who followed hockey before the 1991 Cup Championship.
  14. Why would a supplemental tryout be necessary? To fill the team or to actually field a team?
  15. Didn't realize all of the teams were co-op in that division. My mistake.
  16. Gonna have to disagree with you here Hoser. Not sure how a co-op team is allowed to participate at Nationals. Not trying to crap on the kids but the adults screwed the pooch on this one. From top to bottom.
  17. You are. Not funny. Besides, if you're in need of the hockey scholarship to play AAA hockey here are two things to consider 1) How do you plan to pay for the other expenses? 2) Have you considered another sport or just rec hockey?
  18. The problem that I see though is that a lot of these organizations have multiple people making really good money. There are presidents, hockey directors at each level, skills directors, and more titles that squeeze even more money out of the families than necessary. And let’s not kid ourselves…a lot of coaches and directors are making more than $500-$1,000 per kid. This is the most accurate statement that has ever been written and it sums up at least two local organizations and it fits the big one to a T.
  19. https://www.cbssports.com/general/news/stanford-usc-georgetown-coaches-among-50-indicted-in-college-admissions-cheating-scandal/ When you read this story all the way to the end, you see it may have ties the IMG Academy. Just the first of what you can be sure will be many scandals like this when you mix for profit business with education and athletics.
  20. Anyone with a pulse. Save YO money and spend it on a camp that isn't run by a corrupt and outdated enterprise.
  21. Likely, but that was the sentiment last year and the 16's choked it away against Esmark. I just don't think you can measure the extra incentive a team can muster in a one game Final and you know Yuri will have his troops prepared.
  22. You have to be joking about both of these programs at the 06 level. Do you think the Preds or SHAHA are going to drive across town instead? Esmark at the Midget level, yes. Icemen at any level is probably not the answer.
  23. The other question is, how and why did the Mt Lebanon rink end up with both the 14UAA Major and Minor divisions?
  24. List of playoff champions by association. 20 different associations won playoff banners. Many of the smaller associations were represented on this list so that's good for the game.
