It is an NCAA violation to change admission standards or offer tuition money that is not related to athletic scholarships. All of this talk about giving kids money for club hockey is simply crazy. PPE brought in $2.5 million in 2019 and ended the year wirh assets of $200,000. Can easily be looked up online on guidestar. However they don’t list thier top 5 paid employees. It’s hard to say where the money comes from for coaches and staff, with the blurred lines between Excel, PPE, and UPMC. But Excel high school program is $17,500, so they have the needed revenue to pay well.

Exactly. Western PA produced a kid who is at the camp...exactly zero kids at that camp from ohio or eastern PA! That kid played AA through squirts. Don’t hate on a talented athlete that western PA AA and AAA hockey helped develop!

Your original post said that the rosters are hard to find. You weren’t clear about the hometown being connected to the rosters. I also never said anything about your daughter, just pointed out that you are wrong about automatic PPE spots for SSA players.

On the boys side, PPE U16 is the only western PA still playing, no other Tier 1 or Tier 2 got further thab QF, and almost all didnt win more than 1 game. U18s got smoked 6-3 in QF. Is Pittsburgh really a hockey hotbed?

PPE rosters are always easy to find on their website. I know of two SSA girl players that got cut from Pen Elite. Someone has hurt feelings

Looks like across the board, both boys and girls and Tier 1 and Tier 2, Pittsburgh teams arent exactly having great results at Nationals. Exceptions being PPE U16 and U18 boys
