I’m assuming this is why Carter Hart took indefinite leave of absence from Flyers yesterday.

Anyone know the other 4 players?

The article may have been updated since you read it, because they do speculate on the others involved:

"Dillon Dube stepped away from the Flames on Jan. 21 due to "mental health" and Carter Hart was granted a leave of absence from the Flyers on Jan. 23. In addition, Alex Formenton was granted a leave of absence on Jan. 24 by his Swiss league team, HC Ambri Piotta, and is expected to return to Canada.

A multitude of players on the 2018 Canadian world junior team previously either put out personal statements or their agents have issued statements on behalf of their clients, stating they were not involved.

Victor Mete and Jordan Kyrou confirmed that they did not attend the gala and were not in London at the time of the incident.

The following players have come out either via personal statement or with their agency to say that they were not involved with the allegations: Jake Bean, Kale Clague, Max Comtois, Dillon Dube, Dante Fabbro, Cal Foote, Jonah Gadjovich, Carter Hart, Brett Howden, Cale Makar, Colton Point, Taylor Raddysh, Sam Steel, Tyler Steenbergen, Robert Thomas and Conor Timmins.

The following players have stated that they have fully cooperated with the investigation but declined to comment further: Boris Katchouk, Drake Batherson and Michael McLeod.

Alex Formenton is the lone player that has not made any comments to date."

Carter Hart

Dillon Dube

Alex Formenton

Cal Foote

Michael McLeod

These are the players who have taken "leaves of absence" in the past few days.  Foote and McLeod just took theirs this afternoon after the report that the 5 players were asked to report to face charges.  Obviously, we don't know if this is why they are taking leaves, but like Mark Madden said yesterday after Dube and Hart took theirs, it is suspicious that they were all on that team and their were rumors that something was coming down soon.

Interestingly, originally the victim accused 8 players. Does that mean she was mistaken, or 3 of the 8 were in and out of the room and not participating in the assault, or 3 of them were people not on the team? Maybe they felt for whatever reason they didn't have enough to charge the others with anything? If you look at the statements made prior by players or agents, some stopped short of saying they had no involvement and just saying they were cooperating. A couple gave information that they weren't even present in London at that time time. Some said they weren't involved, yet here they are on the hot seat to be charged. Formenton has said nothing at all to this day.

It will be interesting to see how the NHL handles the players involved now that charges are being filed. To their credit, even though the league is an uninvolved 3rd party they launched their own investigation which they said will at some point be made public. Hopefully, if players are found guilty of sexual assault their NHL careers are finished (of course there's always the KHL, which apparently accepts anybody). And I hope those who were on that roster and had suspicions following them around the past several years will be publicly cleared of wrongdoing.

To me, most disturbing is that it would only take one person to look at the situation as it's unfolding and say, "hey, I don't think we should be doing this", "this is not a good idea", etc.

The Athletic has the deepest articles I've seen on this scandal, as they usually do.

It'll be interesting to see what all comes out once the onion layers are pulled back.

Is she the same person who did the whole story on Chico Adrahtas?

That story played out over decades and yet Jim Smith is still a part of USA hockey.

Good for the Ministry of Sport in Canada. Government so often f's things up but they knew how to hit Hockey Canada - right in the wallet. And what do you know, they reopened the investigation.

Yes, she did the Adrahtas story also. And covered the Blackhawks debacle as well.

Too bad she wasn't around to expose Graham James back in the day.
