  1. That's hilarious. No, its not like AAA amateur hockey but the depth of the top ten players on the top teams in AAA or AA would smoke the top 10 from teams in the d division or A. The AAA schools just have a lot more hockey players to choose from giving them more depth most seasons. There may be some rare instances where that would not be the case but I think they would be rare.

  2. You are correct it was pretty bad in the late 90's through the early 2000's as they would only place teams by school size. I asked for years about changing that. If I remember correctly, they finally allowed teams to move to the open division if they couldn't compete in their current one. That led to a bunch of teams in the open division. They do a much better job now getting teams in a division that they can compete in. It will never be perfect but it is a Ton better

  3. If you took the top 10 skaters and a goalie from each of the 4 divisions all 4 teams would be pretty equal your not better because of the division you play in high school in AAA high school isn't like AAA tier 1 like amateurs

  4. You are obviously a Canevin parent. And I understand that you want the kids to get proper recognition. But Canevin would be at the bottom of AA. Yes Canevin has some players playin at higher levels, and I know how many. I have seen them play amateur games and not just Canevin games. And there are some very good players, very very good players. But most AA teams have many players playing at higher levels. Like 3 full lines of higher level players. And a fourth line that is good. Canevin barely plays two lines. And any 4th line players hardly ever see the ice at Canevin if they aren’t blowing someone out. Once again, I root for Canevin. I know a kid on the team now and have known kids on the team for several years. I am also a graduate of and former player at Canevin. Big fan of all Canevin Athletics. I am just not looking through your parent shaded glasses.

  5. This is so wrong. He's a really good coach with an outstanding resume and he was dismissed because certain people on the board want to go in a different direction. The word is they want to find someone with a military background. Not sure if the last part is true or not. I wish John well. Just one of the perils of coahing HS hockey. You're at the mercy of the board instead of an athletic director.

  7. I agree with that. The drop-off between AA and A is way bigger than the drop-off between AAA and AA. There often are not many A players in the Stellar 6 either. However, there are some really good players in A as well.

  11. Only two out of the 24 A-level teams make it to the Pens Cup final and they lost to a team that did not lose a game the entire season. Most schools would take that scenario in a heartbeat. On top of that, GS was a five seed.

  12. Do the Preds coaches have access to ice to even do private lessons? It seems to be a big assumption considering that only certain people are approved to offer private lessons at the Ice Castle. I definitely could be wrong, but I have known of a number of kids that have played at the Preds AAA level and they haven’t taken any lessons from coaches at all. I will find out though as I have a friend whose son played for them last year at the 2010 BY.

  13. Their website lists 2 2012 teams and 1 2011 team. There are 2 coaches that overlap from those teams. Who is to say that they don't have the best forward in PA? It's not like they said all of USA, North America or the World. I am sure there are coaches in Philly saying they have the best kid in PA also. It's personal opinion and at that age no real facts to prove it. The best kid on my kids squirt team played on the 4th line of 100+ ranked team when he hit 16u. Anything can happen and a lot can change.

  15. If you are referring to the Airport, there were more than 3 teams when they closed down. And they could have had more if the owners weren’t such idiots.
