  1. The Indy Fuel and the Erie Otters? That's a couple of Juggernauts there. And the Houston Wild? Now there's a hockey hotbed. The MLHA thing is just another 3-5 year "one-off" deals, or in this instance a two-off deal. Just like the Icemen was all about one person's kid, so too is this all about one person's two kids. It will fade away and other than the PPE, Esmark and the Preds(somehow) will still be standing. The Vengeance thing is an interesting case study. They abolished the low-level Midget teams (and yet still get crucified) but if the idea is to grow the youth teams into 14U/16U/18U that's a slippery slope to try to sustain teams for that many years. I guess only time will tell.
  2. That is what you call detailed, compelling and well written. I also made a point to copy and save it before someone forces it to be removed. Great job FTC.
  3. It's all part of the master plan of the world's worst hockey parent. I was also told, this is second hand and only hearsay, that attending the Excel will be required next season for all age groups applicable. Now, everyone knows it's already a requirement but this person alleges that it will be in writing and not just telepathically communicated. Stay tuned as the tryout carousel is about to be fired up for 2020.
  4. Wow, I didn't realize he was Scotty Bowman. That's the last Head Coach I've heard of that didn't go on the ice. Of course, that's because every player despised him.
  5. Well then, perhaps they should have been playing at a more competitive level than single A?
  6. https://myhockeyrankings.com/team_info.php?y=2018&t=13510 The internet is such a wonderful resource. Enjoy the show.
  7. Oh, right. That's the team where the coach threw all the sticks on the ice in the 1st period of the 1st game because he didn't agree with a couple of the referee's calls. All the parents could be heard on the Livebarn feed complaining and yelling at the refs and the players went over the edge as well. It's funny how things stay the same even when the coach is different. This season the same team was recently involved in a melee at an away tournament where I believe 6 of their players were suspended. Then they attempted to circumvent the suspensions by scheduling "a game" against their 05 team on a weeknight so the players could participate the next weekend.
  8. As I stated earlier in this thread, it is based upon who wants to go and awarded on a first to apply basis. There is no merit system used by PAHL. Again, one of the PAHL's warts.
  9. At the 14U level I think it's Allegheny, North Pitt and the Foxes (maybe). Apparently, the PAHL used the simple yet not so well received method of first to apply to go, first to get to go. This is supposed to showcase the top teams from East and West. Remember the warts that were mentioned in the mis-placement thread? Consider this a wart.
  10. How do any of these fall under the topic Thanksgiving and Local?
  11. Just looked up the U18 team and they lost a couple of close ones this weekend to Shadyside, 13-2 and 5-1. Good job Ralph, Gary and the rest of the gang lining their pockets. Good thing there is plenty of $$$ over there in Bethel, USC and especially Peters.
  12. Yes, you can enter scores, however I believe that this year the initial rankings were released on Wednesday 9/18. It may have even been 9/25. Keep digging though, I'm sure you'll find something.
  13. Prior history should be known by the association of every team. Most of them collect this data upon registration so even the club jumpers data is known to the new association. All associations are responsible for providing the PAHL with their idea of where each of their own teams should be placed. A solid association would involve the coach to some extent. Initial placements are released in mid August along with the two game placement match-ups. If a team believes they aren't placed correctly, there is plenty of time to play more than the two assigned games. As far as MHR, it simply can't be used in any form or fashion because the initial rankings aren't released until mid-September and as others have mentioned, the manipulation is far more common than you would think. The PAHL has its' share of warts, but team placement is definitely NOT one of them. As someone suggested previously Lferg, I'm sure the placement committee would welcome all of the time and data that you can provide.
  14. You're right, they're lined up all the way to Middlesex Crossings.
  15. 100% agree, but if you (sort of) own the ice then what sense does it make to dismantle your main tenant and give up that guaranteed revenue?
  16. It's obvious that those are "highly educated" hockey parents. The only thing that is too slow is the processing part of their brain.
  17. Icemen as a whole are a complete joke. The powers that be have taken a once thriving Butler Valley organization and dismantled it to the point of which it may never recover. And to what end? To have a group of teams be forced to pay 3-4x what they could be paying as BV teams: U18 Tier 2 #14 - very good, but why not just be a BV team and save the families a couple thousand in travel costs? U16 Tier 1 #122/150 Nationally and #10/10 in the MidAm District. They recently found it advantageous (financially) to add a skater from the BV 04 team to this team. At a ranking of 89.87, they would be a perfect fit in a strong PAHL U16 league. U15 Tier 1 #113/123 Nationally and #12/12 in the MidAm District. They would be a solid fit in PAHL A Major Black. 05 Tier 2 #4 in Western PA and at 89.55 sitting exactly in the middle of 6 other Western PA teams led by the Viper Stars at 90.69 and book-ended by North Pittsburgh 88.52. Again, just another good Butler Valley team that wouldn't need to travel to play all of their games. If them and the VS were in the PAHL AA-Major division, that would be a great 7 team division with Allegheny and Predators being pushed down to A Major Black.
  18. I would say there are two things that SHOULD prevent it. 1. Common sense - good luck 2. The law - should curb this for most people but the lack of #1 is astonishing nowadays
  19. 66 is NOT the problem. He saved hockey in this city twice, at least. He can do whatever he wants to do.
  20. 100% Correct. It all changed when the city's worst hockey parent had to have it his way.
  21. Ah, I had been using the link from the Vipers site. Thanks for shedding some light on this error.
  22. There must be something happening there that they don't want to be known considering they still have last season's rosters on their website for the 18, 16 and 15 teams.
