What's the deal with Esmark?
hockeyisgreat replied to RJUSHL's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Especially as long as Route 28 is torn up. That road is always under construction and it just keeps getting worse! -
What's the deal with Esmark?

Of course if they were really good players, parents with the best kids would travel to have their kid play on a better team. Just like they travel to PPE and Esmark at Midgets! -
What's the deal with Esmark?

Isn't that what the Preds AAA teams are trying to be? Seems to me that there are to many AAA teams in the South Hills now. If they all combined to one team it might work! -

Isn't this their first venture into the market below 14U. It's most likely just a money maker to supplement their Midget programs. Remember everyone needs to play AAA to have any self respect and if you give them the team they will come! By the way this is just my opinion! -
The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Discussion

Says she is the Team Manager. A lot different than a coach. What happened to the Head Coach of both teams? Did she resign get forced out? Both teams seem to be doing very well! Very interesting! -

Hmm, from looking at the website it appears that all the female coaches are gone! Someone has to know the inside story! -
U18 “AAA” same old story year after year

What does that mean? I'm a little slow! Please explain! Thanks -

I agree these threads are old and repetitive! But that's human nature unfortunately! We only like to complain! And people generally only go on Forums when they want to grump. Occasionally you will get someone who has an honest question but mostly it's about complaining for whatever reason! -
Great news for Western Pa! It will be interesting to see what kind of improvements will be made with only one rink you can't be down as long as PIA white rink was this year. But obviously the place needs major work.

Is that most of the people that have been on the board a long time? I'm sure the newbees have no idea who the King was nor do they care! I remember when he left the board wondering how deep into amateur hockey he was!

PIHL 3A, 2A & 1A Rankings & players to watch
hockeyisgreat replied to Puck01's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Got it. I misunderstood what you were saying! Sometimes I'm a little to quick to react! -
That's no fun! What would we have to talk about right now? We have to be complaining about some team or organization that doesn't belong! Right?

I agree with you 100% and who cares what local team he is on Fafa? A good High School player is a good high school player. Not his fault his school is in a coop. They all should be recognized! -

Barons are 7-3-1. Isn't it a little peculiar that they haven't played the Pens Elite yet? -
Hunt Armory Ice Rink
hockeyisgreat replied to RegDunlop7's topic in Western Pennsylvania Youth Hockey
Have you been to the rink? Have you heard of them turning it into permanent ice? Hopefully I am able to get there this winter to see for myself. -

For arguments sake maybe kids should just age out at 16! No PAHL or any other recreational leagues. Only Tier 1 hockey. And only the top 30 programs in the country. Why should anyone else waste their money? (Oh I forgot maybe there are some kids who just really like to play the game at the highest level they can!) -

Why limit it to teams with a winning record? Lets go one step further and let anyone in as long as they pay the entry fee! -
How many 06 AAA teams are there in SWPA?( Pens, SHAHA, Esmark, Preds) am I missing some? 07?, 08? and 09?
-
Thanks for the info. They are obviously much more concentrated in Eastern Pa & New Jersey. I wonder how many rinks they think they need to own in SWPA & Ohio before they make a move to a Western Division. Anybody know how long they have been in the Ice Rink business?

Isn't there a relationship between Esmark and Black Bear now? I couldn't find anything on their website. Came across this! Black Bear Sports Group, Inc., owns and/or manages 26 hockey clubs ranging from Tier II (B, A, AA) and Tier I (AAA) to Juniors. I guess they don't own or manage Esmark yet. I would think their best bet to own and manage a Tier II program in SWPA might be out of Rostraver. Maybe they will start their own. Does anyone know how they acquired or purchased the 26 they have now.
