  1. Probably got it from being around a no-mask wearing idiot that he couldn't avoid, like a lot of people.
  2. And writing "THIS!!! Is your opinion." like that comes across as unhinged. Nothing to mention of an outdated article to show your proof. Just sayin'.
  3. It's actually not my "opinion" that people are spreading it. It's a real-life thing, in case you haven't noticed. Notice how people have it, then more people get it? How 1/3 of people act like it's business as usual and are to snowflake to wear masks (or wear it right)?
  4. We'll see what happens. Shutdowns or not, there's still plenty of canceled games and practices because people just don't take it seriously and continue to spread it. Also, a team needs one kid to get it or have exposure to it to shut everything for that team down for two weeks.
  5. I would add... I see a lot of parents burn bridges because of a certain coach (who they may not even have next year), or perceived or real favoritism (you want your kid to be a favorite? Make sure he/she listens, goes to practice and not just games, and does the drills with their best effort and correctly. This usually endears your kid to the coaches more than scoring goals and being a puck hog) . Don't be the parent who is a pain in the neck, and don't burn bridges. You or your child might want to return to an organization you moved on from someday.
  6. Ah, there it is. Angry because your spouse (or maybe ex) always "told you what to do". Or your children. Or your boss. You are a person who feels powerless, and being a MAGA Man helps you feel a little bit more powerful.
  7. I guess I should consider myself lucky that in all those years of sled riding while wearing a thick, wet scarf that I never died of bacterial infection.
  8. The organizations absolutely can force you to wear masks or a gator. Just like a helmet, cage, neck guard, or whatever.

  10. The Trumpsexuals are still going full-force, I see. Oh, well. I used to be unable to refrain from debating, backing stuff up with facts, etc. I've realized it's not worth it. You'll have a better time explaining math to a cat. Best to just let them talk (or type), watch OAN or some incel's YouTube channel to get their news, worry about the day (that never comes) when blacks and Mexicans overrun their neighborhoods, and swallow every cockamamie conspiracy Alex Jones gives them. It's hard to avoid going back-and-forth with them, but it'll save you time and stress. In the end, they'll get each all riled up over sh!t that makes no sense, while the majority of people know that they're out of their minds and that they can't be taken seriously. There's fewer of them than the rest of us, as we can see from the election.
  11. Unbelievable. Also, why your kid and his safety need to be YOUR responsibility, not Safesport's, not USA Hockey's, not Coach Whomever's. Yours. And if you see or know something, raise hell. Whether it's your kid or someone else's.
  12. While not ideal, I have to say that "killing one of these kids" because of wearing a mask is a bit hyperbolic. Teams have been doing it for months already.
  13. Whoever works there needs to be given explicit authority to tell anyone not following mask/distance rules to leave the premises. And told that they need to do it. If there's a problem, call the police. They're private property rinks, so just throw them out. If someone walked in without pants, it's the same thing. Make them leave. If a continuing issue with the sane people, ban them from entry for 30 days. End of story. Watch everyone start following the rules.
  14. Was there this weekend, not sure the rules. But had no problem with 2 of us parents attending. No one was checking anything.
  15. Danner, you do realize saying thus us like the flu is like saying diabetes is gout? Two totally different things.
  16. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. Aside from Boston's local TV crew, I can't think of an announcer who grates on my nerves, is as annoying to listen to, than Doc Emrick. I said what I said.
  17. It's about viral load, there's really not a lot of opportunity to spread it on the ice. Now benches, locker rooms, car ride, totally different story.
  18. Why are they silent? Embarrassment? Most I know are actually obnoxious loudmouths, to be honest. And the ones at the rink wearing their masks like a necklace.
  19. Again, I'd like to see proof it's from being on the ice, playing the sport. As opposed to locker rooms, sleepovers, and the other mosty avoidable things that go along with the game.
  20. This "2 weeks" stuff is stupid. What does anybody expect to be different in two weeks as opposed to now? I'm not for shutting it down at all, either. If people stick to games, wearing masks, and distancing... that should be sufficient. I'd guarantee this is a locker room/hallways/car pooling/hanging out problem, not a game playing problem.
  21. Long story short. At a certain level, not a lot separates most of those kids. Hard work would be the deciding factor. Plus, not only does the skill and hard work need to be there, but also the commitment to the sport. Very, very few kids have all three. I would say most kids, if you asked them, would say they want to play in the NHL. But in reality, not many kids would want to put in what it really takes, and generally speaking it's still a huge gamble (the Crosby's and McDavid's are the rare exception). Most would rather have a great time playing hockey, and still be able to live like most other kids of their age.
  22. First, this was a player and a REF, so let's start there. Secondly, even spitting on someone is assault- banging this guy's head into the ice is clearly assault. And from a sub player? Terrible etiquette.
  23. Would each teams board of directors have known about this, and chose not to present it as an option?
  24. If that's the case, I would have signed my kid up in a second. Is this per team, not player? Also would have pushed the board to go in this direction. Is this being marketed well? How are we only hearing about it now, shortly before it starts? I can't see people NOT wanting this if that's really the case. I'm paying between $1000 and $2000 right now for a middle school team, which is per player. Although I'd bet the biggest obstacle would be the schools with jv/v teams in pihl not wanting to upset pihl.
