  1. I'm also going to post this here, it is a quote from what I posted in the Wolf thread but also relevant to this:
  2. https://www.pennlive.com/sports/2020/09/pa-gov-tom-wolf-plans-to-veto-bill-that-lets-schools-decide-whether-to-hold-sports-and-set-attendance-limits.html?outputType=amp If the numbers are correct from this article about the Senate and the one I read about the House, the legislature has enough votes to override his veto. The question is do they have the fortitude?
  3. Rinks would need to have insurance other than USAH because they allow a wide range of activities not included. Local teams might need to have it but even then I'm very unclear what it would cover.
  4. We had this conversation about this earlier and no one ever heard of USAH insurance actually ever covering anything. Are there examples of it?
  5. Yeah but they are going to say the same thing even if it was sanctioned. What if a kid snaps his neck in a non-covid world? Same rules apply.
  6. I think most people are realizing this. The pens black teams dying are a good sign of the times.
  7. The voice of reason. This is what I keep preaching which is until Bantam it really doesn't matter. That doesn't mean you need to settle for any coach in pahl or not try to find competitive teams but it does mean a lot of squirt and even peewee parents think waaaaay more of their kids than reality suggests. Seems like everyone has the excuse that their kid is so damn good pahl just isn't good enough for them but when they get cut and have to roster at AA or even playing PIHL those facts don't show themselves as apparent. And ESPECIALLY if we are talking about the Pens black teams.
  8. I think we are on the same page with the rules. I just wonder if nothing has happened to date I don't see anyone making a stink (unless there really were an outbreak tied to a rink, which as "What the..." Pointed out we haven't actually seen.
  9. That's good advice for everyone. Usually the kids who have taken time to develop as all around athletes end up being the best.
  10. I'm still curious why you would pay 10k a year to play AAA squirt hockey and still need to ask a message board where to develop defensemen.
  11. I dunno. If they haven't gotten in trouble to this point what makes you think that's gonna change? I'm sure jealous parents have called the health department on all the rinks doing what they want but we still haven't seen much change. Just curious...
  12. How many AAA coaches did he need at 7 years old? Asking for a friend.
  13. I was about to say "Yeah, just like a 9 year old is ready to join the military, if he isn't mentally tough enough now, when will he ever be?"
  14. I'm not going to claim to be a scientist, and i think there are situations where I can imagine (without any proof whatsover) that I agree with you, but I also run several miles most days of the week on a treadmill with a mask on and it honestly doesn't both me at all.
  15. Barring someone getting sued (which I think is a stretch because there is a pretty hard burden to prove someone got a disease at a specific place and time) or a rink actually getting shut down by the health department (less likely the longer time goes on in my opinion) those not following the rules will be winners. Are there actual programs who aren't playing games? (I mean I would assume every team is scheduling some sort of scrimmage games even if they are traveling out of state or am I wrong?)
  16. "AAA" (Tier 1) literally does not start until they are older. No matter how you want to frame it or what you want to call yourself.
  17. If your kid is playing AAA (I assume by the way it was worded), talk to the coach. That's why you are paying all that damn money. If a professional coach can't help you figure it out id suggest going back to PAHL.
  18. Especially when you lose games at the AA level it goes against the whole "Aaa" thing (although yes I realize all those squirts are in their minor year. All the teams ("AAA" and below) are all ranked together at the squirt age though because as pointed out there is no tier 1/Tier 2.
  19. Well if it's 3 hour drive for them and they are going to have weird restrictions sounds like a waste of time to try to schedule. I'll wait til clearer rules come out. Thanks to both of you.
  20. Because it gets lost in the Quinlan/Fauci world of sorrow, does anyone have friends or contacts in Michigan? It looks like they can play regular games at the Midget/Bantam level (other levels too) with two spectators per athlete. Can anyone confirm? I want to reach out and schedule some games.
  21. The Vengeance/SCIR hybrid teams are squirts. No tier 1 as mentioned elsewhere. Also who cares?
  22. Anyone have friends in Michigan? It looks like they can play regular games now with two spectators per player. Are there caveats to that?
  23. So there are not a lot of specifics here but even Michigan's governor looks like she is now being less restrictive than Wolf. https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2020/09/03/gov-whitmer-reopens-michigan-gyms-and-pools-allows-organized-sports-to-resume/?outputType=amp For indoor sports, 2 guests allowed per participant in the stands.
