  1. Plus schools don't own rinks so hopefully there is some language in there that addresses this. If the school says yes but the rink doesn't have any authority they are still capped at 25 per state law.
  2. Is there any ice in WV? I was under the impression Wheeling and Morgantown were not putting it in? Ohio I believe.
  3. Honestly Little Johnny could die of the flu. Kids die of the flu every year.
  4. Didn't Mid-am just dictate we had to play 25 max in PA last weekend?
  5. Hey if the legislature gets serious about fixing this, the correct answer is passing legislation that limits the liability of schools and organizations in a serious way from lawsuit over Covid. Then we can get back to school, sports, etc without all the stop and starting. Everyone is so damned worried about a lawsuit (much more than worried about the virus) that everyone is paralyzed.
  6. Tons if they do open. I wondered about RMU does it count as outdoor?
  7. My understanding of the Mid-Am guidance is exactly what Danner said about Denver. They told everyone to abide by state rules. So PA we have the 25 person indoor limit for recreational sports. Different in NY, Indiana, Ohio, WV, etc.
  8. I don't know about the checking part, but with 9 skaters 5 v 5 would be pretty hard. On the flip side we can help the kids get ready for their transition to beer hockey when no one shows up
  9. That was the article I posted a few months ago about AAU was going to take off. The big question is what the rinks do.
  10. Well my kids would rather play than not play plus the exercise is good for them but we can agree it's stupid.
  11. You have a written source on this (Mid-am)? I heard the rumor 3 months ago but have still never seen a written rule of any sort. To me as awful as it sounds 3v3 would make more sense than 4v4 with 9 skaters.
  12. Oh i think I was reading this thread wrong. Above they were saying Mid-AM made a rule that only 25 people in each rink? That's been PA's rule for a while now (unless you have separate rooms, so if you had two rinks that could be 25 per sheet of ice). (Yes, I know places have been skirting the rules). So this would extend beyond PA to Ohio, indiana, etc correct? Is this "rule" written down anywhere?
  13. This meeting was last night (Friday?) or tonight (Saturday)? If it already happened i can make a couple calls and find out but I didn't hear anything today and as a matter of fact had some games scheduled.
  14. I feel like we should build a monument.
  15. The community coming together didn't necessarily mean physically. It meant that's the tie that holds community pride together. That was a straw man, fear mongering argument.
  16. https://tribhssn.triblive.com/allegheny-county-health-department-offers-to-assist-wpial-regarding-50-person-limit/ Also good news - the county willing to have reasonable conversations it seems.
  17. I would also add that if it rises to the level of criminal wrongdoing contact the police.
  18. Not from the folks I have spoken to. I'm not on a board so everything I say is anecdotal but people seem to think Mt. Lebanon, Rink Rats, SHAHA, and Preds numbers are up from everyone I've spoken with.
  19. Anomaly, I'm assuming your kid played on one of the black teams and they are one of my chief complaints about Pens. Actually I've not experienced it personally but heard others who have and it's been atrocious. My biggest beef is they siphon away players who would be great AA or A Major 1 PAHL players and let us be more competitive especially at the peewee and up ages. I'm glad to see they are not going to have those joke teams anymore.
  20. Names of the schools put on hold (other than South Fayette varsity that took a two week precautionary break)? I know a few south hills organizations had the largest numbers for tryouts at certain age groups they have had in a long time. I guess I can't speak across the board for all their ages but I know several had larger than usual numbers and had to make lots of cuts at the bantam and peewee levels.
  21. I've still not heard any kids not playing hockey right now. What am I missing?
  22. Just as follow-up - I went to the Pens website and looked at 15u, 07, and 09. All three of those teams have regular practices scheduled and on the calendar. Also, the 09 has their very first game scheduled against the Vengeance. Guess not much is reliable here.
  23. If numerous kids tested positive for Covid, they would be contacted by the local health department and asked to contact trace. Unless someone is suggesting the AD told them to lie to the health department (which I find very hard to believe and would open everyone involved up to much more liability than just taking a two week pause for a team) I don't see much of a "cover up" going on.
  24. I don't get tired of the PPE bashing but I would like more clarity on what is going on up there. Probably 20 different stories just in this one thread.
