  1. I assumed it was based on fire code (capacity posted next to every entrance) but maybe I'm nuts. I was wondering if there is an online site to see capacity from place to place.
  2. Wolf decreased the indoor capacity allowed to 10% today. I don't know if that will have any impact on hockey or not? Maybe back to restrictions on spectators?
  3. Lebo closed their rink til at least Dec 8.
  4. What is your point? He asked what relevance wet masks being bad were and I responded. Your mask is going to get wet from water bottles, sweat, and vapor from your breath. If a wet mask is ineffective, it's ineffective. Don't blame me, talk to the CDC - I have no idea.
  5. Once you breathe in the mask long enough during vigorous exercise your mask gets wet. Especially if sweat is added.
  6. I hope you are right. I agree the original PAHL email did say that. It was communicated verbally to our team that the refs would stop the game if masks were not worn. No idea if true.
  7. While that might be true in practice, the email PAHL sent out said referees would be in charge of enforcement. Guess we will see this weekend.
  8. Hey everyone just a heads up - it sounds like the little guards that cover up the breathing holes on helmets count as "masks" in some rinks and not in others, very inconsistent. Better stick with one that attaches to the helmet or just a regular one or at least have one handy in case a ref tried to enforce the new rules.
  9. Did you get an email or see an announcement? Can you share?
  10. They are right, it can be done by any volunteer. In teams my kids have been with the team managers have generally done this.
  11. I've not gotteny skates punched out before but people I know say KoSports does a good job.
  12. Agree with this totally. Been on several teams where the coach and the manager address parent problems at the beginning of the season, enforce the rules when broken, and it has been a very enjoyable experience.
  13. You would expect, like the local hockey associations, that MidAm would email all their members about elections?
  14. I'm just disappointed COVID distracted from our annual excitement and drama over tryouts. It was pretty tame this year.
  15. Actually there are people out there crazy enough to watch other team practices. I have met them. That being said as Paul mentioned it's a complete waste of time.
  16. I appreciate a lot about Doc Emerick but he could get very very repetitive especially in recent years.
  17. Have you thought about renting ice in Erie and reaching out to other Pittsburgh teams to see if they would meet you there?
  18. Squirts are currently playing placement games. Higher levels the placement games were cancelled which pushes the "start" back a little, but the scheduling should be done for most teams now. Regular season games should start around November 1. I think most if not all teams have played some scrimmage/exhibition games by this point.
  19. Yeah I'm so sure this all happened on the ice and not a bunch of beer Leaguers drinking together before and after the game. I read the entire report and even they don't know if it happened before, during, or after the game.
  20. 2 weeks isn't that bad as long as they stick to it.
  21. While sports was specifically mentioned in the briefing yesterday the health department is starting to say what I have been telling yinz for a long time - the spread isn't from practice or games but from things like carpooling and sleepovers: https://triblive.com/local/allegheny-county-officials-attribute-slowed-covid-rise-to-mask-cooperation/ This is probably good news for sports. Quote: Bogen said the cases in schools are often spread through sports teams or other extracurricular activities, and often when the students interact outside of their practice or activity. “It appears more likely that the virus is spreading more at team dinners, at sleepovers, at playdates and at parties,” she said.
  22. Totally agree with this. I've been to one in Cleveland as well and it felt great. Most of the risk factors you have are things you can control pretty easily (how close you stand next to other parents, carpooling, what you do in the hotel) - I truly believe the hotel and cars are where most of the "sports related spread" would come from. Maybe locker rooms but there is always the option of dressing outside.
