Jack Handey
House Bill 2787 seems specific to school sports. How is this applicable to ice rinks or hockey? https://www.legis.state.pa.us/CFDOCS/Legis/PN/Public/btCheck.cfm?txtType=PDF&sessYr=2019&sessInd=0&billBody=H&billTyp=B&billNbr=2787&pn=4258
Lifelongbender
It has nothing to do with ice hockey. My local representative told me that they are writing a corresponding bill to specifically cover amateur and club sports, and that they are going to ensure that it would cover both amateur and club ice hockey. It's a great first step, true, but it doesn't fix our problem.
hockeyisgreat
It might have an effect on PIHL Hockey in as much as it is school related and in most cases sanctioned by the school.
hockeyisgreat
It needs to pass with a 2/3rds majority just to set the precedent and hopefully get the indoor number adjusted upwards of 50 for amateur sports or base it on percent of total capacity in recreation facilities indoors.

Jack Handey
Looks like the bill was referred to a committee. Not sure if that's progress or normal or what to think.

That doesn’t sound normal per the way we have all been taught politics work. If this is the case & some committee is now looking into it, I suspect it’s geared more towards school sports. aaaahockey
My guess is the bill gets passed (legislature passed stuff opening businesses back up earlier this year) but wolf vetoes it and the legislature doesn't have the 2/3 override numbers. carroll81
I don't think it accomplishes anything other than making it look like the sponsors are doing something. I don't see it specifically overriding the emergency declaration. More smoke and mirrors.
