However, if your player doesn't play High School hockey, you might not have heard about it!  :classic_biggrin::classic_biggrin:

There are several kids on Team Pittsburgh this year who do not play High School Hockey and they are eligible if their school does not have a program, The Tournament itself is trying to come back to the prominence  it enjoyed in Chicago, but without North Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, Massachusetts and other states competing, it is not the same tournament it once was. In Chicago, the USHL and NAHL scouts would regularly attend and was a great event !

Minnesota is back this year: https://www.americasshowcasestlouis.com/page/show/3414801-home

The scout list was fairly extensive in 2018: https://www.americasshowcasestlouis.com/scouts

Many of the boys on the 2018 team were presented with opportunities at the next level from exposure at this showcase.

Pittsburgh in the championship game tomorrow. They have dominated every opponent so far...but Illinois will be a tougher opponent in the championship.

Tournament MVP is 19 Oldrich Virag F Export, PA Franklin Regional High Senior 6' 2" 185

BIG shoot out upset by Texas last night...Illinois AHA has six teams (120 players) of their top HS Juniors and Seniors to tryout for their team. Many teams at America's Showcase have highly skilled players. But Pittsburgh has such incredible depth that nobody has been able to match them, so far. We'll see how Texas matches up to our local boys in a few hours.

This is a great opportunity for these boys start to finish.  Plan to participate in future years tryouts if you have interest!

Congrats to Paul Bonetti and Team Pittsburgh for a dominating performance. Just goes to show when you pick the right coaches they pick the right team and the past two years win the America's Showcase Title. 54 Goals for and 5 Goals Against is total domination of this tournament and a great testimony to a lot of good hockey players from Western Pa Hockey !

It’s for players that play for their high school. What does playing for the Jr Vengeance have to do with anything?

Because on their team application it says “ Hockey players who play exclusively for Junior ”A” teams are not eligible”.

Maybe the key word would be "exclusively?"  You looked up every kid's amateur team? Really? Or is it listed somewhere?

Why can't this Board just congratulate and move on? Someone always looking to deflate or a conspiracy or something. Or say nothing. 🤮

When did the Vengeance become Junior "A"?  They are in the USPHL correct?  Isn't that Tier III?  Junior B at best I think.

I think all Jr Hockey in the US is now tiered numerically and not alphabetically.

USHL - Tier 1

NAHL and NCDC - Tier 2

All others - Tier 3

Regardless, wellthen was correct in pointing out the use of the word exclusively.

Yes, but I was responding to Dsv20 (quoted in my post).  The USPHL Premier and Elite is the old Empire League, which at the time was listed alphabetically as Junior B.  My point was Junior "A" hockey is leagues like the OHL, QMJHL, CJHL and in the US most likely the EHL, NAHL and 3HL.  It is incorrect to compare these leagues to the Vengeance just because they both have the word "Junior" in it.  Parents pay over $8,000/yr for their kids to play on the Vengeance.  Junior "A" players don't pay anything to play.  Thus, it would indeed be unfair for them to participate in a High School Hockey tournament .
