Not to completely derail this thread, but the Preds are a joke. You mentioned you “spoke to the coaching staff”. That’s great. They will tell you anything you want to hear to get your tryout money and if your kid sucks up to them enough, or your wife is hot and flirtatious, your kid will make the team. However, he won’t see any playing minutes unless you are ponying up and taking weekly private or small group lessons with the coach. Thats a fact. DM me for more info. I know these guys personally and have for many years. Nothing ever changes. Ask some of the 08-12’s who have left because of those exact reasons. They over promise, under deliver, and over charge you.

Outscoring the next team in your bracket by 6 goals, only giving up 4 goals in 4 games and having a +17 goal differential seems okay... How'd the team that "impressed" you do?

If there is that coach needs to be fired. Anybody that is so delusional that they think their amateur team is so important that their players shouldn’t play PIHL for whatever reason shouldn’t be allowed to coach at all. U15 AAA Preds will probably be sending 5 or 6 kids to the NHl right? What a joke!

I don’t have a dog in this fight but come on…. These are 13 and 14 year old kids. They’re vulnerable for goodness sake and not perfect for sure. But don’t act like this result wouldn’t happen at least 80% of the time. That’s about as much of a guarantee as you’ll find. You must not have watched the ‘games’ this year but only watched the ‘game’ in question.

I heard directly from a Preds parent that they were told high school hockey wasn't an option next year. Not sure if they were correct, telling the truth, etc (I don't even know the guy he was talking to my brother) but hopefully he's wrong that sounds insane. Maybe they changed their mind when parents got upset.

Would there be any merit to PIHL adopting the PAHL placement game idea? Teams get placed based on past performance and the "formula", but then get to play 2 games against similarly placed teams and see if there is a problem.

There was an overtime winning goal that went through the net in a 16U game Saturday night at Alpha....that was pretty interesting.

The Pittsburgh area is great for tourneys - just not there in Delmont. Alpha, Baierl, UPMC and Neville have plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby and all are close enough where multiple facilities could co-host together.

Jack ass parents absolutely can ruin it for the kids, though.

Well I do have to admit I don't want to spend 4000 dollars + travel to spend 8 months with a bunch of loud jack******. It makes the entire experience miserable and I'd rather my kid have fun and the parents have fun too.

At the very least, Liberty appears to be the current incarnation of ACHA college hockey’s version of “how to build a hockey powerhouse program through the same principles that the USA military implements everywhere it goes…spend an absurd amount of dollars acquiring an absurdly excessive amount of superior assets that will simply overwhelm any competition.” It appears to be a sound strategy if money is not an object.

A lot of you don't understand the landscape and just spread rumors. Have any of you dads that have zero hockey experience even watch anything but your own child? Pens - Top two lines are solidified. Good luck to any new kids breaking their top two lines. Better have good attitude and happy you are wearing Pens gear if on 3rd and 4th line. Preds - We all know the dad that loves to be on the bench that ruined Esmark. Otherwise they could be a very good AAA team, but south hills area doesn't seem to figure it out. Vengeance - That team has not improved in the last 2 years and only holds its ranking bc of teams they play and being a "AAA" team. Import a coach from Detroit that doesn't attend practices really shows how invested the organization/coach is with these kids. So keep spending $10,000 to fill pockets. Also, how many other shady things can happen over there before it's exposed. SHAHA - Tough to compete with Preds in same area. Would be a good team if they combined top two lines. But much cheaper option than Preds. Icemen - The rink sucks and the location isn't good to attract players. This is the only team out of the 3 listed above that has consistently rose in the ranks the last two years and proving to all the haters. Pens have been a top 5 team for the last 3 years. We all know they are the top dog and is #1 destination. Esmark - Team folded last year bc of a certain parent taking players to Preds. We see it every year, whoever has the money and filling these organizations pockets the most, thats all they care about, they have the control or balls of these organization heads. This team next year will be nothing but a A major team next year if they even get enough to field. If you ask me, a lot of kids stay put and all of this is nonsense. Get on with your lives and enjoy the limited time you have with your kids. Spend your money wisely. And if you have extra cash to toss around. I will gladly accept your money and tell you how good your kid is and how he is going to the NHL. Seems to be the way things are anymore.

Just like in Pittsburgh the pro organization really has nothing to do with the Jr teams besides letting them use their names, colors and logos. It's considered a non profit and used as a write-off.

The people that are in St Louis are thrilled. It's their first Nationals and that is always special and exciting. Huge for St Vincent and the Martz (father-son) coaching tandem. Big congratulations to their program

SVC got pummeled in game 1 of round robbin play for ACHA M3. Not sure how they made it in the first place, maybe conference autobid…

CHMA should move to D2. There would be more competitive non-conference competition and would fair much better at nationals.

False. I think the AHF and Black Bears takeover of hockey is a bad thing. It would be in everybody’s best interest if PAHL could get out of their own way and adapt. Hockey is better than ever in Pittsburgh. Yes, ever. But PAHL hasn’t been able to keep up with the changing dynamics of hockey in the region. They left the door open for Black Bear leagues. That’s a problem and families pay the price.
