BeaverFalls
Is it even worth playing Altoona, State College, Jets and Warriors anymore? Long trip for bad officiating and horrible competition.
bb2j3z
Guess it depends on the age level. We were in the Squirt A Major 3 division last season and Altoona and State College teams were at the top of the division and would give us a hard time. Also at the top was Crawford County Flames. I am guessing that was their top Squirt team with lower numbers of kids. We are in Squirt AA this year so not sure if we will see them then. Saucey
Division placements should be better next season. Teams pretty much got whatever they asked for due to COVID and no placement games.
hockey55
Out of curiosity, why does Erie play in PAHL and not against teams in NY like Jamestown, Lakewood area which is much closer? We have teams from Wheeling and Morgantown and Youngstown in our divisions that are out of state.
sadday4hockey
They have teams playing in both PAHL and WNYAHL. I think each team gets to choose their own preference year by year as to which one they play in.

dazedandconfused
Ron Shock - great screen name!! I wonder how many people on here know he was a Penguin back in the 70's?
Jack Handey
I say we keep the east teams in the league. The teams are often competitive in A. And War Memorial and Pegula are some of the cooler places to play.
Ynot02
Poor officiating and subpar competition isn’t unique to the teams to the East.

Ron Shock
I guess I missed the comma between MidAm and NY

Has PAHL done away with the placement process? Normally placement games weren’t until Sept./Oct. and teams had to qualify for AA on down. I do know that a lot of states/organizations/regions used to automatically designate the “major” birth years as AA and minor as A. On that note, I have noticed “AA” tryouts being a big thing these days. What happens if an org. advertises “AA” and the team does not qualify? Just curious. And back to my original question. Are there still placements in PAHL?
Jack Handey
Yes, poster should have said we are AA hopeful. The AA designation comes from PAHL if you play in PAHL.

In theory they still do. I don't think PAHL even knows yet what the process is going to be for this season.
twoboys
The bigger organizations will just about always have a AA team in each division. Especially in Squirts and Peewee.
