But they still need to score to win...and they still need to play defense. One player does not make a winning team.
Icebucket
SV certainly has the top goalie in HS. They probably lack in coaching more than anything, but they are packed with tons of good young skaters and a top end goalie so its been working out. Saucey
Soooooo refreshing to have people just talking hockey, respecting each other and the kids playing. Great discussion.

Curious, why would you think they lack in coaching? I'd think history and the fact they are indeed putting up points and W's with a lot of young players would lead to the opposite statement. Kids, particularly young kids don't coach themselves, and we all know parents "car and couch" coaching doesn't lead to winning teams.

Knowing what some of the other teams have to offer coaching wise, I just don't see SV stacking up at the varsity level. Yes, they have some young players, but they are very good and most of them know how to play the game the right way in what they have learned along the way. At the end of the day, as long as they are winning then all is good. But when they don't, it's hard to justify given their talent pool they always have. hockeyisgreat
Pretty sure Burrell has only lost to Canevin x2, Deer Lakes x2 and Morgantown in OT with wins over Neshannock & Connellsville. That side of B is really lopsided.
hockeyisgreat
Just looked at it again. Looks like Neshannock is making another late season run. Will be interesting to see how they do with Deer Lakes 2 games and Burrell 1 in their final 5 games. Haven't lost in 2023!

They are starting to gel and their goalie is finding a new level. They don’t have an easy final five.

Yes, and the team/player stats are also lopsided due to the fact that within the groups each team plays all of the teams 2 times and plays 2 of the teams 3 times, and only plays the teams on the other side 1 time during the season. retired
Peters obviously team to beat but looks like Central Catholic beat Seneca in regular season finale tonight. I'd say either one of those teams could give Peters a run for their money.
