There should be a jv PIHL game there. Is this how its gonna be? Let me know if you get an answer to this. It's pretty expensive if you can't watch on demand anything at their rink and it's only for AHF/THF games.
dazedandconfused
Remember all those folks who were so excited about this "new and far better option than PAHL"? It will be interesting to see the sentiments after the conclusion of this season and then again in another 2 years. I'd be willing to bet the returns will be diminishing annually and at an increasing level.

They just want to monopolize everything. Rinks, leagues, live barn, the associations that play in their rinks, tournaments, .... (which are WAY over priced). 1

Eventually, I see them going after PIHL as well. After they have enough teams to ruin PAHL. Why should all that money get spent on a school sport where nobody is making a profit, right? Once they own enough rinks, all they have to do is refuse to sell the teams ice. Just have to do this regionally at first. And start their own school league. It won't be overnight, but rest assured it's part of the strategy long term.
hockeyisgreat
This is what I got back from Black Bear TV. Good luck with all this. Where is the free trial to see if it's worth the cost. They could roll that out at The Super Series this weekend! The schedule on Black Bear TV is ingested on a weekly basis via a rink scheduling report of all of our facilities. That schedule gets added to the BBTV website every Wednesday, which will then show games for that week and weekend (Thursday through Wednesday). At that point you can favorite the arena which the games are being played in by clicking the yellow star next to it so it is added to your favorites and then you can just go there on a weekly basis to see which games are streaming. The only games that are scheduled ahead of time for the season, are youth federation games in the THF, AHF, and AGHF.

zam
Does anyone else think this black bear group is going to end with the same result as legacy global sports?? They were trying to corner the market on all the youth sports teams and tournaments. Buying everything up, partnerships, South Kent Selects Academy all within a couple years then... Poof, Gone! Kids without teams, parents owed lots of money. They can blame COVID, but the trickle down of their failures was huge, and effected multiple sports and many businesses. I do like the slowmo option that it had. It looks like there is no option to download game clips though which is a downgrade.

forbin
The quality of that particular clip looks 10x better than LiveBarn in my opinion. You can actually see the names and numbers. Would likely be even clearer at rinks without the netting. It’s on par with the YouTube streamed games filmed from the stands (presumably on iPhones) that some teams do. Wish it was on all the time though. I still don’t understand how they will be able to activate it when it’s a PAHL or PIHL game.

Also who says the cameras at the local rinks are the same. Also based on what was said above sounds like we aren't even guaranteed PAHL or PIHL games? bb2j3z
Talked with the rink manager at Printscape and they should have PAHL and PIHL games loaded. You need the premium sub to download the clips. Unfortunately no other streaming is allowed so gone are the days where we would record on ipad and upload to HUDL. Not sure how much enforcement will be done by the rink. Will have to get a subscription to BBTV at some point. It seems crazy that the camera isn't always on. I would go onto LiveBarn to watch practices, see things got updated in the rink, or if the skate shop was open. That's all gone too.
Pucks11
I am surprised that Black Bear doesn't charge you to get into games, pay to park or to fill up your water bottle. Maybe next year!

James Gatz
12 minutes ago, aaaahockey said: Delete this before you give them any ideas. I was at what I think was a BB rink (at least the main tenants played THF/AHF), and they did have coin operated heaters for the stands.

nemesis8679
Well here's the Black Bear TV at one rink. This isn't satire, it's real. Apparently the views at many rinks are obstructed because of camera locations. And it's games only, timed at their ice slot. So a late starting game? Yep, the feed cuts off before the game is finished. Theoretically an employee at the rink could manually update the time so the whole game is shown. But it sounds like that isn't really happening. And at least for the AHF, if a parent is caught streaming from an iPad or whatever... the person's player is pulled from the game, a suspension for the rest of the season, and they're on,the hook for the full season fees. 1

Can not imagine them being able to enforce that for a PAHL game unless there is something in their T&C at acceptance. gotta love big business in youth sports Edited September 23 by YardSale Poor typing
dazedandconfused
That's an absolute disgrace, these people should be so ashamed of themselves. In New Jersey and Eastern PA as well as Delaware, they have to be on the verge of violating the laws against against monopolizing or some federal anti-trust laws. Maybe USA Hockey and especially our esteemed MidAm affiliate should spend some of the money of the membership on something that is good for all members instead of only 10% of the membership. For those who might be interested, take a look at the required publicly available tax returns and see how much of our money these folks are sitting on. How do I find a company's 990 form? The 990 is a public document that you can search for on the websites for the Secretary of State or the Attorney General where the organization is incorporated. In addition, 990s are available from a variety of open source and subscription sources.
